OWLs: O - Latin, Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, History of Magic, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Fantastical Philosophy ; E - Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology
NEWTs: [ currently studying ] Latin, Fantastical Philosophy, Transfiguration, Potions, Ancient Runes, Charms & History of Magic
“The O is a good thing, right?” your mother had asked you, and you nodded patiently. “That’s, like, an A*? So the next one down, the E must be an A? Y’know, in your simple mother’s terms and whatever.” You nodded again. “That’s — then, that’s fabulous!”
You winced. “I fucked up Defence and Herbology.” You wanted all Os. What the fuck was the point of studying so damn hard if you couldn’t even get all the Os you wanted?
“You did not fuck it up,” your mother said, but you couldn’t hear her anymore. It sounded all static-y.
“I got two Es,” you interrupted, because that was the only thing sinking in. And then you dismissed yourself, saying that you had to deal with stuff, and had to leave the damn flat because there was no personal space there. There was an emergency stairwell that no one ever really went down unless they wanted to smoke weed. That would do.
It was unrealistic as shit, of course, but you had wondered if you could take more than the average amount of NEWTs. Six was recommended, but that narrowed down your options so much. They wouldn’t let you do that with 8 Os and 2 Es, would they? Goddamnit, those fucking Es. You could ask to do seven NEWTs, that was a good compromise, you decided. Maybe push for an extra one or two --- after all, you had no other commitments as of yet, extra curriculars you tended to stay clear of ( you had no idea in less than a year, you’d be asked to be Head Student, damnit ) . They couldn’t turn you away from that. And you’d pick broad options, ones that could get you into anything — not Defence or Herbology, fuck that. Transfiguration and Charms were reasonable subjects that got you into any field, and Potions was always helpful. Arithmancy and Astronomy were too specific, but that’s fine. Ancient Runes and History of Magic were classic textbook subjects, and you were good at that. Latin and Fantastical Philosophy were subjects you actually enjoyed, nerd as you are. It was fine. It was all going to be fine.
As the roleplay begins on the first day of classes, it’s only befitting that the first task mirror this and ask that you create your character’s personal class schedule/timetable. HERE & HERE you can find the lists of available classes that Hogwarts currently has to offer, and HERE you can find some additional information, should you need it. It is advised that you take your character’s extracurricular activities into mind, though I do realize that I have yet to release any information regarding function meeting times and such, so it’s perfectly fine to leave it out for now. Please tag it as #SACTASK so that no misses it. I hope all of you have fun with this one!
As before, I wanted the new task to match in theme to any events or plot drops introduced within the group’s storyline. Thus, I’m ecstatic to introduce this fresh task for you all ⏤ create an alternate verse of your character in which you feature them as a creature from any existing mythology you wish (i.e. vampires, sirens, fae, veelas, werewolves, banshees, baba yaga, etc.) and it may be in any setting and time period. This can range from fabricating an entire tale or myth of your own to suit this version of your character, or writing a drabble that encapsulates their existence in this body, or even making diagrams and edits. Spin your own take, and I’m excited to see what you all come up with! As always, please tag your work as #SACTASK ⏤ I hope you enjoy!
