Follow His Footsteps: Sadaqah Challenge

Assalamu Alaikum,

In the spirit of Ramadan, we are launching a social media campaign called Follow His Footsteps- Sadaqah Challenge. It starts today iA !

As you know, one of the most purifying and impactful acts a Muslim can make that can continue gaining him/her good deeds even when they pass away, is Sadaqah. This is from our deen and is something we need to continue.

The name “Follow His Footsteps - Sadaqah Challenge” is inspired by the beloved Prophet Muhammad (sws). The Prophet (sws) lived among some of the worst human beings, yet with time a lot of these people could not hate this beautiful religion and dedicated their lives to its growth and prosperity. In a time when Islam is portrayed in negatively in society, and Islamophobia runs rampant globally, this campaign seeks to combat the negativity by portraying the true essence of Islam as demonstrated by the Prophet (sws). It will also serve as a reminder to the Muslim community to be good to our non-Muslim neighbors and community members, despite the current climate and hostility towards Islam.

We ask each person to do 3 forms of sadaqah for 3 other people in their community. The three people must be: 1 Non-Muslim, 1 person in need, and 1 Muslim. The message will spread through each participant tagging 3 of their friends to nominate them to take part in the challenge. There is a list of Sadaqah types and ideas on our website:

There will also be a LaunchGood campaign that participants can donate to. All proceeds will go to the Tayba Foundation, a San Francisco Bay area nonprofit organization that provides current and formerly incarcerated men and women with Islamic education geared towards the refinement of their thinking and behavior while positioning them to transition to society more productively.

In order to maximize the impact and benefit of this campaign, word needs to spread quickly throughout the Muslim community. We would really appreciate if you could share our page on your social media platforms and encourage people to participate by tagging 3 other people with a large social media audience, and perhaps even share a story from your own experience with the Sadaqah Challenge.
