I had planned a different kind of post, but when I heard Glen Campbell had died...He was one of my music heroes, and at a time when country music was not a favorite of mine. But for pure musicianship he was right up there. Before he was a star, he was a session musician, part of the famous Wrecking Crew. He might be playing on a Sinatra-type recording and then a rock and roll session and then a soul date in the same day. Played on dozens of hits. He did test recordings that would be played for Elvis to determine Elvis' next recording. He was actually part of The Beach Boys, playing bass and singing falsetto replacing Brian Wilson while he was out for a while. I loved Wichita Lineman, but heard his cover of Sadly Beautiful by The Replacements today, which is my new favorite. This seemed a fitting pic for the joy his music brought the world.
