I'm having feelings about V.
So to preface, I was VERY attached to V after his route. I still very much am. He's my number one absolutely. This attachment is actually why I never bought or played Ray's route because getting Ray's route required you be mean to V and I genuinely could not stomach it. In that vein I've only read spoilers for Ray's after end because I never played the original route. So please be nice as a lot of information I have on Ray is secondhand!
In MM to get routes it requires you raise affinities with certain characters and sometimes you have to be mean. This works really well with the first 5 routes for the RFA because they're established early on as friends and lots of the time you just have to disagree with Yoosung if you want Zen's route etc. The established friendship makes this easier and it never downright feels like you're being mean to other characters.
V typically isn't capable of being mean. He's self sacrificing and cares about the RFA as well as Saeran deeply. In order to get V's route you very rarely have to be outright mean to Ray because V wouldn't want that. Hell you should rarely be outright mean to Rika to get his good end. Because V, while horribly misguided, is a GOOD person and he still cares about Rika. V is so we'll established as a self sacrificing and caring character.
That's part of why the new AE feels like a slap in the face. Cheritz fully takes away any of V's relevant characteristics to make him into a villain. Ray got a happy ending in V's AE but V just gets shafted in Ray's? And now he's Dark V?
V also has a disappointing lack of solo content in his own route and AE. The man's hardly there in his own AE. It feels more like Rika's AE at the end of the day and that sucks for V stans.
V deserves better. He's a good character. He doesn't always make the right decisions because he's flawed and that's part of what makes him so great.
