Excellent, but sad example of commonplace behaviour these days that we teach in all seminars. While there are no guarantees you can prevent this there are several things you can do to dramatically reduce the chances of being victimized. Back into your parking spot so you can see threats in front allowing for more efficient getaway driving straight out if you see the threat in time. Scan scan scan the environment more than your damn phone with your head down. Keep situational awareness to avoid even being hit by a car, not just any potential "bad guys". If they get your valuables get to safety and call the police. Your life is worth more than possessions. How about learn some basic violence prevention skills.
