We love #citizenScience and last weekend we got to help @shoreRiversOrg with some oyster restoration on our river. They give out oyster spat (baby oysters on old oyster shells) to people who foster them for a year. Then Shore Rivers collects them to place in oyster reef sanctuaries in the river so they can do their job as filter feeders and clean up the river. . It boiled down to getting to throw bucket after bucket ( forty-five 5 gallons of them) of muddy oyster shells into the river: A preschoolers dream come true. . For me, the best part of the day was getting to hang out with @towboatusKentNarrows while they were promoting #safeBoating by giving away life jackets and safety gear. Y'all know water safety is one of my big issues, and we love seeing locally based national brands like @BoatsUS promoting #boatingSafetyWeek. Comfortable and properly fitted life jackets get worn and save lives. .
