Inventory of Abandoned Safe Deposit Box [N.C.G.S. 53C-6-13(a)] A bank may have an abandoned safe deposit box inventoried by a notary if payment is overdue and 30-days have passed since notice was given to the owner. The inventory shall be taken by a Notary WHO IS NOT A DIRECTOR, OFFICER, EMPLOYEE, or STOCKHOLDER of the bank while in the presence of a bank official. The notary shall: Open and empty the contents of the safe deposit box Write a description of each item on a special package by the bank Execute a certificate, writing on it the name of the lessee, the date the box was opened, and a list of its contents Place each item and the certificate into the package and seal it in the presence of the bank’s official Write on the package the name of the lessee and the date of the opening A copy of the certificate will be mailed to the lessee and the box stored in the bank’s general vault PAY ATTENTION NOTARIES: 💎There is no statute for how much a notary must charge for notarizing this Certificate of Inventory of a Safe Deposit Box!!!
