Sometimes you have to function in society while your head is full of The Characters.
Everyone leans into the hamster thing for Shang Qinghua, and I know it’s because it’s funny, but consider that the text says he’s handsome in a sleazy way. I’m imagining a greasy rat, because rats are nice-looking little guys, but they can also be the hardcore city variety.
"Astra inclinant; sed non obligant." The stars incline us; they do not bind us. What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be free?
ASTRA INCLINANT is my ongoing SFF novel about a guy who just wants to teach in peace, but exists to die for someone else.
Includes B&W illustrations (by @othersharkss) for some chapters, clone angst AND clone problems, slow-burn m/m romance, body horror soul magic, and cathedrals in space. I have a longer info post here. Astra is currently 200k+ words and in the final act as of this post (11/2025).
(And yes, this is the bug yaoi!)
You can read it on Ao3 here.
Fanfic writers: how would you feel if someone drew something from your fanfic?
I would like it
I would not like it
I would only like it if the person was Good At Art*
I wouldn’t care
* whatever this means to you personally
If you don’t write fanfic, answer hypothetically.
If you like someone's art or fic (or any creative thing they do!), you should tell them. Leave some tags, comment on their art, send them an ask. It's free, it's easy, and it's a bigger help than you know. So many artists I know are privately really struggling with creative morale lately and feeling like they're sending their posts out into the void, so it would make them happy!
I'm participating in @fandomtrumpshate this year. You can find my offering page over here.
I don't take commissions ever, so this is a great way to get me to draw something you want to see! I'm happy to do art for MXTX (any series). I'm all-in on canon compliant, but I'm willing to do minor AUs (cat ears, MXTX crossovers, stuff like that), as well as ships that are sort of a grey area (ie: QiJiu). Silly or serious, I'm looking forward to drawing for this event. o7
I recently blasted through the first two volumes of Seven Sea’s translation of Mistakenly Saving the Villain (Misvil) and I really like it so far! I haven’t seen it talked about at all despite the first volume coming out at the end of 2025, so here are some reasons I like it, and you might like it, too. This list is spoiler-free. My non-exhaustive list of subjective reasons Misvil is great:
- the first book is basically all just one big sick fic
- the protagonist is a formerly terminally-ill social disaster med student who knows nothing about danmei
- “transmigration gone wrong”; the protagonist is incredibly earnest but doesn’t know how to identify genre tropes
- thoughtful depiction of an abuse victim
- no “perfect victim” storytelling mentality
- discussions of medical practise that don’t read like a gimmick
- xanxia setting
- love triangle with a dog-coded sopping wet loser
- big snake that wants to snuggle
- guy with poison critter powers is friends with doctor whose side interest is poison
- slowburn romance that feels grounded
Content warnings for a lot of heavy topics, however, especially at the beginning. The book discusses (and depicts) human trafficking and past sexual abuse is a major part of one character’s back story, but it’s handled empathetically and in a nuanced way. The first book has the heaviest part of this and it does get better, but that said, it’s a balanced story and is not as bleak as it sounds. If any of this sounds like it might be too heavy for you, though, definitely look into a more comprehensive list of warnings, as mine is just a summary.
I love characters whose vibe is this post:
