About the Fic writer asks, can I get your answers for 1, 3, 18 and 20 please. Thank you 😊
Hi!!! Of course, you can! Thanks for asking!
1 . What inspired you to start writing fanfiction?
Hmmm, I have no idea. I mean, I've found stories I wrote as a kid about Archie Comics, so I kind of have always been writing fanfics. I think a lot of my inspiration comes from wondering "what if..." or wanting to fix something I see as a problem in canon material lol.
3. Are there any specific themes you enjoy exploring in your fics?
Yes! It's an ongoing pattern that I find I tend to enjoy exploring things like obsession and sacrifice in my fics, especially personal sacrifice.
18. Are there any fics or authors that have been particularly influential or inspiring to you?
Omg, there are so many. I find every author inspiring for so many different reasons, lol. Like @chickensarentcheap is inspiring to me because of the way they continue to churn out these fantastic stories and don't stop! I'm impressed with their dedication. (also because I have absolutely no control over my muse and they run around like a "caffeinated ferret") Other authors like @comatosebunny09 inspire me with the detail and description in their writing. I'm terrible at description, so when I read people's work and they're amazing at it, it just inspires me to work on that area of my own writing.
I will say that my favourite non-fanfic author is Kelley Armstrong. I love her work and her characters, especially the leading women. She is a fantastic writer and I always recommend her to people.
20. How do you approach action sequences or intense moments?
Carefully, lol. I did a lot of research into how to write an action scene when I was working on my fic Caught in the Crossfire and it's helped a lot to figure out how to keep sentences short to build up the tension and work in the descriptions. I tend to try to picture both action sequences and intense moments so I can figure out how I want it to come across. Intense emotional scenes I usually think of the dialogue and how someone would say it, like what's driving that emotion and reaction. In action scenes, I try to picture how I think it would happen...and rely a bit on my love of action movies hahaha. I'll either have matching music playing at the same time or sometimes I have an action movie playing when it's an action scene I'm trying to write.
