It’s come to my attention that some people are upset because I posted a picture of a baby with a cleft lip and didn’t post a source and tagged it with “macabre” and “body horror.”
1. Okay before I say anything else that could potentially make people upset, please understand that I’m very new to this taxidermy/vulture culture/deformities/macabre/dark art blogging thing and I’m not 100% sure yet when I’ve crossed the line between when something is okay to post and not okay to post. Obviously since several people have spoken up this was not okay to post, so thanks for calling me out on it and I’ve deleted the image and I’ll strive to do better with this in the future.
2. I would like to mention though that I work hard to find sources for everything I can. 90-95% of the things I upload are sourced. This particular image was not, because although I found it used as a stock image/header in various articles/medical journals, I found no mention of the photographer or anything pertaining to this specific child, so I couldn’t determine which website was the original source. And I’m not the sort to cop out and link to a random article and call that the source just because it has the image in it.
3. About tagging it “macabre” and “body horror…” I guess I’m grossly desensitized to flipping those tags around because they are ones I use a lot. I was tagging 100 images for the queue so I didn’t really stop for a second to think about what tagging this particular image with “macabre” and “body horror” could imply about people with cleft lips/palates.
Now that I think about it it’s pretty appalling, but please know that the original intention was in no way to be nasty towards, an attack on, or representative of my opinions on people with cleft lips and palates. My cursory thought process was pretty much “oh cool a picture of a birth defect to upload to my blog.”
Obviously I need to give more thought to such things in the future - a birth defect on a living person is something I must approach with more tact and finesse than when I post taxidermy or wax models or cadavers. Like I said, I’m just starting out with this, I’m bound to fuck up, and I’m really sorry that I did. Thanks for calling me out on it, and please call me out on it if I fuck up again.
@sailorcvnt @teenwolfgay

Carlos had a play date with @monsterfemme and @sailorcvnt's dog, Snape. They both really, really love @chancedr.
This is probably the best thing I can do with my smart phone. (Niko keeps his name because he's my emergency contact.)
