you blog so much about the oh hellos and i thought i'd check them out. omigod, in short, thank you so much for talking about them so much. like i am in love with Dear Wormwood. and listening to it while plotting my narnia fanfic gives this feeling of wonder and grief and longing. "Where's Your Rider?" is my favorite. like it's amazing. and as an exvangelical, i'm impressed by how wounding and soothing their music manages to be at the same time. their sound captures everything little me loved about christianity--the strong belief that love was at the bottom of everything and beauty was God's breath. i saw life everywhere. and even though i eventually left, this music is one of the few things that's reconnected me with that part of myself. the one that just loves beauty and wants to believe love is at the bottom of everything, still. somehow.
the oh hellos are rly just like that yeah. they are to music what lotr is to movies/books u feel me.
girlll when's the byclair fic dropping???
girlll as soon as i finish editing it!!! which will be soon i hope!! within the next week she said tentatively
girls be like “im a sociopath i feel nothing for anyone or anything” and they just have adhd/autism
was talking to my sister about books (as we are prone to do) and she was talking about how she can't do her usual re-read of the lotr books because she always did it with our dog who died three years ago and she said something like, "have you ever read a book that reads you back?" like a book that peels you open and reads TF out of you? for her it's the lotr trilogy plus the suneater series (minus the last one) by chirstopher ruocchio. i have my favorite books and books that have made me cry, but it's usually political theory that leaves me feeling raw and understood and breathless until i have to take breaks or go slow. fiction-wise, i think tolkien's the silmarillion might be the only one doing the reading back for me.
what books/movies/shows/songs do you feel read you back?
maybe it matters that we try anyway
Or: I Tell A Very Long Joke
I did a thing (and it wasn't getting pregnant!).
