Another gem found in Cool-B. Nice manga style art by Higuri You but I’m 99% sure this was exclusive to the magazine.
And now I have 73 other new magazine scans to edit... :D

Annnd that’s the real reason Saionji wears a different uniform and keeps his hair long. I mean, I would do the same. Ugh.
This sort of adult theme and mood is a huge difference between GH and GH2. GH has several routes where tension is built with threats of (or actual) physical or sexual violence, while GH2 is more about psychological issues brought on by events in the characters’ pasts.
Why are they so different? GH was released as an 18+ game in 2002, when the BL game industry was just getting started, so the tropes and themes are a product of both the time period, what Japanese fans liked and expected at the time, and the lack of ‘maturity’ of the industry. Some routes are very well developed and handle the adult content well, while others... do not. And some routes feel like they were merely tacked on at the end, and basing an entire route in a BL game on the paperthin conflict of ‘but we’re both guys!’ is just lazy.
GH2 is a 15+ game, so there’s no ‘adult’ content. At first I was disappointed, but now I feel that it helps make GH2 a stronger game. There’s no falling back on the tired old crutch of graphically described violence and it prevents Yuki from hopping into bed with every single character - including those who aren’t ready for it. I’m sure some fans were angry about the change, and GH2 was definitely not as popular as the original despite all of Spray’s best efforts (tons of exclusive short stories, Twitter accounts, extra artwork, etc).
This isn’t saying that we don’t love the original GH! Trust me, we wouldn’t be volunteering hundreds of hours of our free time to make a patch if we didn’t like the game enough to commit to it. But there are major differences in tone between the two games and it’s an interesting topic to blab about. :D
The back of the neck story is a tale for another post. It’s, uh... disturbing. :x
YOU SAY THAT BUT we all know you’re secretly trying to kill Kazuki with your mind, Saionji. :D
Oh hey, it’s another one for the similar images collection.
If Keita decides not to be mad about the bus accident that nearly killed him, this is what happens. These two do NOT get along, haha. It’s gonna get worse as the game goes on...
Tetsuya: You remind me of the ocean. Kaoru: Because I'm deep and mysterious? Tetsuya: No, because you're full of salt and you scare people.
Shunsuke: Fight me! Tetsuya: Ha, look at your size! What are you gonna do, kick my ankle? *Later* Keita: Why is Tetsuya crying? Kaoru: Shunsuke kicked them really hard on the ankle. It was hilarious.
