I don’t know if you play dragon ball z: kakarot, but they actually give a reason for why the tails don’t grow back. Basically the tails grew back because of a subconscious need for that power up they get when in their great ape form. By namek they, Gohan and Vegeta, supposedly no longer needed that boost. I’m sure this is also the reason Goku’s didn’t grow back, but I also think his tail not growing back has something to do with the fact that people were cutting his tail off on the regular

I’ve never played it, but it seems they used that game to fill in a lot of narrative blanks. I wonder if it explains the moon too 🤔

If I had the time or ability to play that game I def would just for the opportunity to learn more about the dbz universe hahaha
