¶Drabble #3: Desertmarigold¶

A listening ear

Synopsis:during a political trip in the leaf village,Sakura offers him and his young son Shinki the Kazekage a place to stay due to the lack of hotel rooms in Konohagakure. While together,Sarada and Shinki begin to slowly bond and warm up to each other,while the parents get...maybe a bit too comfortable...

P.s:pretty rushed, probably first of many drabbles about this ship

P.s.²: characterization isn't my forte,I haven't been writing for that long and English isn't my first language so read at your own risk. Also I don't mean to hate on Sasusaku in any way,that's just not my cup of tea because their relationship feels a little cold and one sided to me, especially in Boruto,plus I simply think Gaara and Sakura are cute as a pair. Everyone is allowed to enjoy whatever they want,I just like to write about my silly pairs:)

"is it ok if I put my bag here?" Shinki asked lowly,turning to Sarada for her approval or disapproval, his attention shifting back to his backpack only when the black haired girl nodded, the young Uchiha currently busy with switching the soft cotton sheets with flanel ones and an heavier duvet because of the sudden wave of cold that came over the five nations in the middle of summer.

Sarada sat on the now king sized bed with a light sigh,watching as Shinki slowly sat beside her, placing a moderate distance between them,both of their heads low before Sarada lent Shinki the cup of hot chocolate Sakura made for the two children, each slowly sipping the warm drink from their mugs,shivering from the still lingering cold before the girl broke the silence,her voice thoughtful:"say Shinki,have you noticed how...close...our parents have gotten?"

Shinki's head practically whipped towards Sarada,making him get whiplash in his neck as he groaned lowly,looking down at the floor in an embarrassed manner:"yeah...yeah I did. They're subtle but it's there..."

In the meantime,while the two children discussed their parents'muddy colored relationship,Gaara and Sakura were laying in the king sized bed in her home under the heavy duvet,talking about...just stuff, y'know?

"he tried to kill her?" Gaara asked in shock,looking at Sakura with wide eyes,as if he'd just seen a ghost. "I can understand the whole situation with the Shin clones,but still...how's she after that?

"she's ok,she's...the best she can currently be,I mean..." Sakura murmured softly,her voice tired as Gaara gently rubbed her shoulder for some comfort "and,what about you? How are you holding up?" He asked,almost afraid of the answer.

"this isn't about me"

"It is about you too. Of course Sarada's well being is important,but it's important for you to take care of yourself too"

"I... I'm unwell Gaara,I'm not okay. I push forward simply because of Sarada,I'm tired of Sasuke barely sending letters,of almost not caring about us at all. And actually,I'm angry about what he did to Sarada,even if he had a reason! NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING COULD EXCUSE THAT! EVER!"

Gaara watched for a moment as tears welled up in her eyes,and slowly,he pulled her into a hug,letting her cry in the crook of his neck as she sighed shakily while he silently seethed over Sasuke's behavior,but right now,the lame emo guy wasn't his problem. Once her sobs turned into hiccups,and her breaths grew less shaky,the two laid together,still hugging and cuddling,until Sakura leaned her head back to look him in the eyes, their noses gently touching,the moment rendered even softer by the wind howling outside.

Gaara found himself sighing gently,letting their noses lock with each other,his cheeks flushing at the awfully intimate gesture. Sakura's breath hitched.

"Gaara,I..."

"You don't deserve this...and neither does Sarada,you both deserve so much better.."

The man gently locked his pinky finger with hers before he slowly,so very slowly let his whole hand find hers,their palms locked together in the softest embrace.

Gaara took a few moments to admire her:the messy rose strands,those gorgeous and so so kind chartreuse eyes,those plump and now Rosie's cheeks and finally,those soft looking,slightly reddened thin lips.

He didn't act on his impulses though,instead deciding to hug her again even tighter this time, because the last thing Sakura needed on her plate right now,was his boyish and immature impulses.

And while their parents fell asleep and woke up embraced like two highschool sweethearts in lover's lane,Sarada and Shinki were awake all night,talking of the most random topics after slipping off the main topic that had been their parents.

"No way. Sumire? Didn't take you for someone who swung that way, Uchiha.." Shinki couldn't help the light chuckle falling from his lips,his head feeling heavy from the lack of sleep while his heart was feeling strangely warm and full,similarly to how he felt with his father. "Quite frankly,from an outsider's view...*yawn*...you seem to have some sort of romantic interest for The Hokage's firstborn" the boy sleepily mumbled,already beginning to curl up against his pillow.

Sarada laughed softly as she watched him fall asleep while talking,his words slurred but lighter than she'd ever heard him as she started dozing off as well. They could keep talking later,once they both get the rest they need.

Gaara has feelings for her but hid them since he thought he would get in Naruto's way.

And another story for the Naruto Rare Pair Bingo is done! We are quickly coming to the end of the month and sadly I won’t get this card completely done, but I am hoping to have another story or two for this collection before the deadline in a week. So @naruto-rarepair-bingo here is about story for you!

Title: Insomnolence

Pairing: Sakura Haruno and Gaara

Synopsis: Insomnia that follows Shukaku's removal has Gaara seeking medical assistance from Konoha. Tsunade sends Sakura to help, only she's carrying some baggage that may affect her ability to help.
