Woodroffe’s drive-in restaurant in Salem, Oregon circa 1960.
Photo is from the Oregon State Archives, with this info: Our historic photo, circa 1960, shows Woodroffe's San Shop which was located "in the heart of Salem's motel area on Portland Road." In the 1950's their menu featured Sanburgers, Barbecue, Sandwiches and Home Made Pie as well as a full fountain. However, they were most famous for being "the Oregon home of 'Sloppy Joe,' a delicious sandwich" that included baked ham, Swiss cheese, and delicious dressing on rye bread." Woodroffe's customers could either eat-in or use the drive-in option to enjoy a "Sloppy Joe" or any of the other tasty eats on their menu. Based on street views of the area and a postcard map of their approximate location, it appears that Woodroffe's San Shop was located at what is now 3400 Portland Road.
