Ok so I've spent the last hour on my bus to Quebec comparing the amazing Salewski album to the to-be-released Becky Reynolds Band album (some nerdism about a bird bleep-sound) And my question is : When is there gonna be a Salewski/Belp collaboration? It would be a total killer??? Ok. I'm back to my bird sounds now.
I am so excited to learn about the existence of Shakull who's gonna play at the Unter Deck in a few days ?!!!!! The Berlin/Tirana original duet is now a quintet, joined by Salewski, Ivi Vukelic and Hannes Mergaten.
Salewski and Ivi Vukelic? Yeah you heard me right, two of this blog's favourites.
This is totally a must-see show!
Let's talk Salewski.
Their discogs description sums it up completely :
The essence of brain activity without purpose. "Dictated by the thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason..." -wholly in the sense of surrealism. Tone poems and sound narratives for synthesizer on black vinyl in a copper-coloured sleeve. Down dark shafts, shiny rails leading into the deep, through high-ceilinged wallpapered halls, passing by dust covered control centers and hydroponics doused in pink neon light. It smells of rubber, diesel oil and incense. A dusky, red-seated cinema full of wasp nests, an entrance to subterraneous landscapes opens up beyond the foyer. Blossoming chestnuts line the sandy airport runway, a rococo chapel sinks down beneath the glittering tropical surf.
