It’s true, sphynx can get blackheads! I’ve been getting a lot of messages about how to clean sphynx that have clogged pores/blackheads. Simple answer: toothbrush. Upon rescuing George earlier this month, I noticed he had the same energy to learn ( and cookie drive) as Jobie and Lincoln. Once he was settled in, I began working on training him along side Lincoln and he is, like I thought, very smart. PRT is 🔑 ( for those who always wonder why Rosie doesn’t do this… It’s because she doesn’t feel like it. She prefers to sleep, eat, lick ice cubes and cuddle. Training is not her thing and I don’t push that on her)

In preparation for this, I had been cleaning Georgie with a small towel all week. Today, he got his first real bath. Since it was his first one, it was a short bath and full of calm reassurance. To help him feel more secure and gently keep him in place, I use a towel on their back and a hand on their chest. After wards, I wrapped him in a towel, gave him verbal praise and a cookie for doing so well. Georgie’s next bath with be a little longer and end in the same way, with positive reinforcement. A lot of people ask me how I keep the kiddens so clean since Sphynx require a lot of cleaning and very regular baths due to them not having fur but their skin still producing oil… and what really helps is doing touch ups every other day! By doing quick wipe downs on the kiddens using small cloths soaked in cat friendly cleanser ( I make my own natural cat cleanser), it helps to keep them clean and skin feeling fresh.
