Enchanted Saltram....
Last night my parents and I went to a National Trust place that we go to quite often called Saltram. And last night in the big house and the gardens they had festive lights that portrayed different fairy tales.
So at the start inside the house you are met with this huge Christmas Tree that they had named “The Once Upon a Time Tree”. Fun fact about this tree is that it was decorated with 4000 lights.
The next room was themed Cinderella. On the staircase was a clock that showed midnight, a shoe to represent Cinderella’s glass slipper and a carriage shaped decoration.
We were then surrounded by beautiful ball gowns as we stepped into the enchanted world of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. The woman next to me is my mum.
Next door we stepped into a “tail as old as time” as we saw the dinner table and the rose from Beauty and The Beast, one of my favourite all time fairy tales.
We dived to the depths of the ocean and into Monstro the Whale and looked at Gipetto’s toy shop in Pinocchio. Yes the archway that I am in represents the Whale’s stomach.
As we stepped past the courtyard to kitchen, we passed Repunzel’s tower. “Repunzel, Repunzel, let down your hair, so I can climb the golden stairs”.
In the kitchen we were in the house of a family of bears from Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Everything was in threes: the bowls; the slippers; the stockings and even the Christmas trees.
The fairy tales didn’t stop as we stepped into the garden. In the orangery, we saw Excalibur from King Arthur’s tale, The Sword in the Stone. As we walked past the trees, the music from the ballet Swan Lake echoed all around. Everywhere in the garden, there was no tree that was bathed beautifully in festive coloured lights. There were even glitter balls as you walked down a path, accompanied by disco music such as “Boogie Wonderland” and “YMCA”.
Thank you Dad for taking some of the pictures.
I hope you enjoyed this festive addition to the blog. It was truly a magical and festive night.
Merry Christmas everyone.
