I went on a science trip between my freshman and sophomore years of high school and one of the few things I remember are what we learned about manatees, so please enjoy some manatee facts:

Male manatees are a big fan of the ol' smash and dash. Problematic kings

Manatees have no natural predators--they're too big for gators to chomp and they live too far inland for sharks to chomp

Female manatees mature quicker than male manatees, so if you see an older calf with its mama, it's most likely a male

I accidentally touched one when we went snorkeling. Whoops
