Q&A- Finley

What eye color do you find sexiest? Brown to be honest. White, milk, or dark chocolate mocha? Dark chocolate. If you could get a Sharpie tattoo on your back, what would it be?  [ x ] In between my shoulder blades, nothing fancy. Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it? I grew up in a pretty big town and it was nice since no one really payed much attention to you. You just sort of blended in. Your favorite adult as a child? (and not your parents, if they were your favorite) My first grade teacher since even though I was a problem child, she was nice and didn't yell at me. What kind of smoothie sounds really good right now?  Something sweet like a mango smoothie, ah no scratch that. Blueberry banana. Most embarrassing moment from your elementary school years?  I'm sorry, but I repressed most of my memories from that time because it was awful and so was I, but what's new? Most embarrassing moment from your middle school years? One time I was using the school bathroom stall and some guy walked in on me and we made eye contact for like two minutes before he just walked out. Most embarrassing moment from your high school years? I missed a few days of school and apparently we were doing a group project to present to the teacher and entire class, but to my fantastic luck the first day I go back is the day we have to present and no one in my group showed up. I had no fucking clue as to what I was doing and had to explain it, the teacher already hated me so he never gave me slack and helped to keep me in the front of the room to present a bunch of gibberish I never learned. It was a free comedy show for the class. Pirates or ninjas? Why? Pirates because they are fucking great. No, seriously their outfits were cooler and who wouldn't want to sail the seven seas on a pirateship? Have you ever climbed a tree more than twenty feet off the ground? Yeah, my Dad taught me how to climb trees when I was younger and we would climb tall ones together. He would climb down first while I waited in the branches and help guide me down or catch me. Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing set? Swinging is my favorite thing to do at a park although I don't get excited if I see a swing set, I get very drawn to them. If you could have any pet in the world, illegal or not, what would you get? Hell fucking yes. Sorry to be anticlimatic though because I'd get a dog. Probably a Utonagan or a border collie, I really like big fluffy dogs. What's your most favorite part of your body? My collarbone area and the back of my shoulders. What's your most favorite part of your personality? The part where it keeps annoying people away. Madonna or Lady Gaga? Neither? Both? Who cares? Who cares Have you ever watched the Superbowl all the way through? Why would you watch football. Have you ever watched any major sporting event drunk? I don't drink, so never. What's the most delicious food you've ever eaten in your life? The chicken and wild rice soup my mom used to make me when I was sick as a kid. Margarine or butter? Which did you grow up with? Honestly I don't know the difference, but I grew up with butter so that's what I'll go with. Whole, skim, 1%, or 2% milk? Whatever is on sale, I seriously don't care, but 2% usually my go-to. Which continents have you been on? North America Do you get motion sickness? Any horror stories? I don't get motion sickness unless you are a horrible and reckless driver, holy shit just get out of the car now and play in traffic. So far, no horror stories except my grandmother was blind as a bat and drove down the freeway at night like she was in Nascar. Backpacks or satchels? Backpacks since they don't hurt my shoulders as much. Would you wear a rainbow jacket? A neon yellow sweater? Checkered pants? No. Depends. Yeah. What was your favorite cartoon growing up? Teen Titans to be honest. If you had to have a cow or a pig, which would you take? Why? I would take the cow, why I'm not really sure I guess 'cause it's neater and Ii don't know I guess it's cuter? If you had to look at one city skyline for the rest of your life, which would it be? Boston, Massachusettes Longest plane ride you've ever been on? Never been on one The latest you've ever slept? 23 hours, it was fantastic Would you buy a sweater covered in kitten pictures? Would you wear it if someone gave it you for free? No way would I ever buy something so cheesy, but if a friend gave it to me, I would wear it once and then never again. Do you pick at scabs? No, but I always poke at bruises Favorite kind of bean? Kidney? Black? Pinto? Black and Pinto beans are the best to me How far can you throw a baseball? About 45 feet If you had to move to another country, where would you move? I would probably move back to one of the countries my great grandparents came from, most likely Poland. Have you ever eaten Ethiopian food? Vietnamese? Korean? Nepalese? How was it? I never had any such food except for Pho, a Vietnamese noodle/soup dish, which was pretty good. I’d try it again if I had the chance. Small, liberal arts school or public university? Why? I would personally prefer to go to a small liberal arts school because for one it's small so less people and it is more specific to fields of my interests. A relationship with love or one with sex? I'm not too keen on getting into a relationship, but one catered to sex is shallow so fuck off. Do you eat enough vegetables? I would say so I mean I'm not unhealthy or anything and always throw them in meals when I can Do you like horror movies? How about thrillers? Horror movies are cool, but thrillers are way better especially because horror movies can be too predictable or cliche. Do you swear in front of your parents? If they were still alive, I would still curse in front of them, but nothing serious like fuck or slurs. Coolest thing you've ever been for Halloween? Coolest as in most creative? Because honestly, I was pretty fucking psyched about being a pirate when I was five and it's probably the only costume I was ever exicted about If you could change your natural hair color, would you? To what? Yeah I would make my natural hair color the same as it is now, a blend of dark blue and purple. Do you want to get married? Have kids?  Sure it'd be nice to get married, but it's not like a dream of mine or anything, same with kids. It's basically a whatever situation for me right now. Do you use a reusable water bottle? I don't. City or nature person? I like nature, but to live in I prefer the city Have you ever used something other than "makeup" as makeup? (Like paint? Markers?) I'll use a mixture of things to make homemade blood for Halloween Can you walk well in high heels? Even if you're a guy? Yeah Post 5 awesome things about yourself. BRAG AWAY! I like my nose, I'm great with technology, I don't give a shit about other people which is nice, I love my hair, and I know a lot of irrelevant things about space and the universe.

Silence. The same as always, the two trailed along the sidewalk lacing around the city blocks side by side. They chatted rather fondly even though it was a bit one-sided as Koda did most of the talking; Finley was a man of few words. He kept his eyes focused on the walk ahead, watching the buildings grow forth from the horizon and then sinking out of view behind him, nonetheless he always saw Koda by his side. He never failed to have a smile plastered to his face when talking to Finn although he just listened.

"Mariko called on such short notice and almost immediately had to leave by the time all of us met up," commented Koda.

Under his breath Finn groaned, “Annoying. “

Smiling even brighter now that Finn opened his mouth, he went on,” But you came anyway!”

He did not refute it and avoided acknowledging it, too. Meanwhile Koda continued to radiate his perky nature in his friend’s silence. "Maybe next time I'll bring snacks and it will be more fun! Oh, wait do you smell that? It smells like caramel!" The pair passed a quaint bakery with boarded windows of pastries and a teasing aroma that wafted through the streets. Their obvious decadence enchanted Koda to linger out front of the door longer, if only Finley would let him. A second after he slowed down, Finn glanced between his distracted friend and the display window before pulling him along by the sleeve of his jacket. Although he was still reluctant, Koda resumed walking momentarily. He knew that Finn disliked sweets, so perhaps the sight of them made him nauseous, but nothing could help Koda take his eyes off the bottom rows of cakes. Only something more incredible could hopefully snag his attention or else the walk home would drag on forever. All of a sudden, Koda's hand yanked back and abruptly jerked Finley around as well. Koda seemed awestruck until a wide smile grew on his face as stared down the narrow alley between the bakery and neighboring building before taking off.

“Hey!” Finley called out,”What are you doing?”

With astriferous eyes and a sunny smile, Koda glanced back at Fin standing on the sidewalk past the mouth of the alley. “Look, Finn! Look!” Ecstatically Koda pointed his finger further down the passage to heaps of garbage and scattered cardboard boxes. Playing along with his adventurous friend, Finley started walking after him all the while acting completely disinterested despite curiosity goading him further. Knowing Koda for a plethora of years, Finley had little expectations as to what caught his friend's attention; he was just too easily amused. Seeing Koda crouched over a low box, he felt his prediction verified itself. It's nothing special. He watched it intently with glittering eyes, but Finn was too far away to piece together what exactly it held. Finley dawdled over at an even pace, trampled the invasive weeds that protruded from crevices, and let his mind wander in thought. As soon as the box came into view, however, his mind went blank. Koda looked up expectantly at Finley who was now gaping, speechless by his side. No words. Silence.

"How about…that one!" The young girl pointed cheerfully in the direction of another dashing student like herself,"He’s cute,right?"

"Not my type," the man across from her bluntly responded.

"Hah?" The girl gasped brushing her short hair out of her face, "What’s wrong with him?"

Finley shrugged his shoulders and continued,” Looks too serious.”

The lovely college student could no longer take her companion’s humor and roared in laughter.

"Coming from you, Finny?! Despite looking like a lazy hoodlum with your stupid hair, you’re more serious than the president!" She bantered and playfully tapped his freckled nose.

"Shut up, Mariko," Finley griped rolling his head over into the crooks of his elbows on the table. Slightly offended by his rudeness, Mariko decided to ignore him and turned toward the blond on her left. "What about you, Koda? What did you think about that guy?"

Propping his cheek up on his hand, Koda muttered softly,” I dunno, I guess he’s alright.”

Caught by surprise, Mariko sat straight up, “Wow normally you’re so outgoing, but I guess when it comes down to romance you’re pretty embarrassed, huh,”

"What do you mean by that?! I was just being honest, he’s nothing special." Snapped Koda. He averted his gaze over to Finley resting his blue head of hair the opposite way.

"But your face is so red!" Mariko teased. She could see it was not exclusively his face, but his burning ears were very obvious against his light messy hair as well. Mariko lifted herself over the table and ruffled Koda’s hair, an action which was immediately resisted as he tried to swat her hand away.

"Hey, Mari, stop that. Knock it off," he whined.

"Haha come on you seem just like a puppy, but anyway I have class soon so I gotta run," Mariko chimed with a playful grin and began to stride away,"Ciao!"

He watched her flowy shirt flutter in the confident rhythm of her strut. You could tell by simply looking at her that Mariko had ambitions that she refused to relinquish and sought to conquer. Although she seems inapproachable and haughty, she was really quite honest in both effort and opinion. Koda tapped the other boy’s shoulder who rolled his head over into his other arm before sitting up once again.

"Mariko ‘s nice, isn’t she, Finn? I mean she’s so lively and isn’t afraid of anything."

"You used to be the same way," Finley remarked before turning away. Koda’s brown eyes widened in surprise by the cold edge in Finley’s monotone voice, but he tried to melt it with a warm laugh. He glanced back at the cheerful boy then got up from the table,"I’m going to head home." Following his lead, the blond straightened out his shirt and started walking beside him. "Can I come over?"

Koda: Hey Finley! You up?

Fin, you awake?

Hey

Hey come on now its been like an hour

1pm subject 44 still in its dormant state, schedule for further testing

Seriously I thought we were hanging out today

What gives???

Alright I’m going on by myself seeya

Day 3: I’ve been scouring the barren desert for nourishment, ran out of water. This heat kills.

Day 9: A rare creature has just been spotted! Body of a jaguar and face of an angel, I need to get its number for science ;)

Day 17: Mission failed. Another sly predator had already claimed the beauty of nature, but I got water too.

Day 31: Everything is empty. No lifeforms seen for the past hour and fog has settled. Beginning of the Apocalypse??!??!

Day 42: I have found a board to fend myself off from the starving undead along with my virtual zombie hunter experience

Day 49: Vital information has just been registered. Finley Soleil Basek has been eaten and now walks among them. I’ll miss ya buddy.

Day 56: Argh!! My ARM IT’S BEEN BIT, URG!

Day 57: Amputation successful. Robotic arm fully functioning. I SHALL AVENGE YOU FINN!

The texts went on for miles and apparently lasted for years according to their ever so imaginative sender. After reading through all of them, Finley hung his head down shaking it disapprovingly at his poor friend who has nothing better to do with their life. Although he would never admit it, the dork on the other end of those messages was his best friend. He reread the last text carefully one last time.

"Mariko wants us to hang out before she has to go to class. Can you make it?"

Finley's small smile fell as he let out a tired sigh. He did not feel up to dealing with Mariko so early in the day, but he checked the time on his phone anyway. He could make it. Without a second to spare, he threw on a pair of jeans, pulled a hoodie over his head, and hurried out the door of his apartment.

Salutations Constellations

Outside the thin bedroom walls, the wind whistled an uplifting tune in harmony with the incessant bird opera, however there were no clouds to waltz to the melody in the sky. Only the sun stretched freely in the empty blue heights. Ah, but having endless lonely miles of clear skies was not enough to satisfy its broad rays. The breathtaking sunlight curiously peeked in through the drawn curtains of the modest apartment and sprawled out on the bed. Constantly fidgeting around in the stiff bed was the groaning tenant yanking the covers up further.

"God it's a fucking Sunday," he cursed as he threw the blankets off of him and ran a hand through his hair. For a moment the man just sat there letting out a long and annoyed sigh until he realized it would not make the world shut up. Still groggy he swung his feet over the edge of the bed with a thud and shuffled over to the mirror above his cluttered dresser.He was a disgrace. The man's navy disheveled hair stuck out every which way and despite its length, it could not conceal the dark bags beneath his light eyes. He studied himself over quite seriously and tugged his lower lid down to check his eye. He held his health in the highest regard, so he was very observant to make sure he never overlooked any potent-

Blehh. The man stuck his tongue out and proceeded to make faces into the mirror. He did not find it particularly funny, but got a kick out of trying to make such a stupid expression. Even though he did not waste as much time as he was hoping to, the man proceeded into the adjoining bathroom to rinse off.

After showering, the man returned to his leisure wear of grey sweats and a plain black tee shirt despite how lazy it made him feel. Down the hall he drearily made his way into the kitchen to pour himself some coffee. The timer he set it on the night before was perfectly scheduled; it was steaming and its strong, yet fresh aroma already overwhelmed the open kitchen. With only a pinch of sugar and impatience, he let it lightly burn his upper lip as the bitterness rushed into his mouth. Morning coffee was one of the few pleasures he enjoyed on such lethargic days. On the island counter in front of him the man saw his phone light up as a new message appeared. Lounging over the counter with his mug still in hand, he opened up the new text. Yikes, scratch that he opened up all thirty-seven of his missed and overreacting text messages.
