There is a tight circle of fantastic bands that are currently getting recognition for creating great music in Kent. Among these is the four-piece, female fronted blues band, Salvation Jayne. Their latest EP, ‘I’ll Be Damned!’, is three tracks of fast paced, catchy blues rock. It is a well-produced, tightly performed EP, with some incredible musicianship coming from all four of the members. Their swaggering singer brings a whole new element to the music with her powerful, soulful vocals that at times build to near roars. Each song has chugging basslines, thick guitar riffs and excellent performing, particularly on the solos in the opener, ‘Black Eyes’, which just blast the listener away. The most memorable track is by far the title track, ‘I’ll Be Damned’, which has a heavy, funky kind of sound to it, with some incredible bass playing that drives the entire track. Salavation Jayne are once again proving that blues rock will always be cool.
