#OTD August 9, 1974 President Nixon ceased to be President while flying in Air Force One over Missouri when Gerald Ford took the oath of office. At that point, pilot Colonel Ralph Albertazzie radioed Kansas City air traffic control to inform them that Air Force One’s would now have the call signal SAM 27000.
