no becuse it's the way that Steve relates deeply to Sam becuse Sam lost riley and steve is thinking about how he lost bucky.
"...Knocked his dumbass out of the sky. Nothing for me to do. It's like i was up there just to watch."
and steve immedatly says. "I'm sorry." and he's probably standing there, thinking/reliving that molment there on the train where bucky falls and steve has to just. watch. and. oh my god he fell out of the sky too 😭😭😭😭
and then later sam hands him a photo and steve goes "is this riley?" and Sam just gives like a small sad nod and it's like steve understands him on a deeper level than anyone else in this movie becuse steve understands what it's like to lose your best frenid, your second, your ride or die.
AND that deeper level of understanding is probably WHY sam is so immedatly ready to help steve/take him in. becuse on a fundamental level he understands steve too; they have common experiences when it comes to the U.S. Miltary and sam is a veteran's counsler. He KNOWS when someone is hurting and when someone needs a frenid.
