It’s that time of the season where the common cold makes it way back into civilization. Some people get it, and some don’t, and it’s usually the people who don’t think they’re going to get it. You’re one of those people. You haven’t done anything to warrant otherwise, but the cold found you through the sea of people. What’s worse is that you’re a shapeshifter and have been stuck in your wolf form for a while now. Sam and Dean think you’re stuck, but you like this version of yourself a lot better than the human version.
There’s just something so satisfying about being a dog. You have no responsibilities, you can run around in mud all day, you get to eat whatever you can fit into your mouth, and no one questions you when you do anything. You like being human when Sam and Dean are on a case because you get to help them out a lot better than if you were a wolf. There are certain things you can do as a human, and certain things you can do as a wolf.
You can’t have both.
When you turned back into your wolf form, you didn't know you had already contracted the common cold. You could go to the veterinarian, but you’d much rather go to a human doctor. They know what they’re doing more than veterinarians. If you’re in pain, then you might switch from a wolf to a human in front of the doctor. As a human, you know you can take the pain. If you’d known you’d be sick, then you might have stayed in your human form just a little while longer. After years of going through this, you know it’s better to be sick as a human than as an animal. You can’t communicate properly about what you need and how you’re feeling if you’re a dog.
You’d switch back, but it’s a very painful process.
Most people think shapeshifting is an easy thing to do when really, it’s full of pain and agony. Your bones shift to fit the animal or human you’re trying to imitate. Your nervous system has to be rewired in order to accommodate the thing you’re turning into. It’s why you like to stay in your wolf form whenever you’re at home. You’ve been shifting since you could walk, so the pain isn’t that bad, but it’s not like it’s a walk in the park either.
Sam and Dean are home right now since there is no case to handle. You’re very sick, but you know you’d feel a little bit better if you’re in the arms of one of the brothers. Dean is working on his car since you can smell the oil. Even with your congested nose, you can still smell the potent oil. Sam is reading in the library while sitting on the chair you got at a swap meet for only 20 bucks. It’s big and comfy, but it’s also full of dust. You tried getting as much dust out of it as possible, but there is still a lingering smell.
You walk into the library with your ears bent and your tail between your legs. You’re a small dog for a wolf but bigger than the average pet. Sam looks up from his book when he hears your nails tapping against the wood floors.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asks when you get to his feet.
You look up and whimper at him with the biggest puppy dog eyes you know you can do. You howl softly and sneeze, looking down once more.
“Are you sick?” he asks, and you nod your head.
You’ve learned to understand human language whenever you’re taking on the form of an animal. It was hard to get used to, but you’re a pro at it now.
“Why don’t you shift back into a human and take some medicine?”
You tip your head back and howl as if you’re telling him, “fuck you, no, I’m not going to do that”. He knows how much it hurts you to shift, so he can only imagine what the pain would be like if you’re not feeling well.
“Are you hungry? I can get you something light to eat. How does chicken sound? I know we still have some.”
All you can do is nod, and he gets up to cook you the meat. Humans wouldn’t eat chicken if they aren’t feeling well, but since you’re a dog, the meat is good for your stomach. Dogs and humans have different digestive systems when it comes to being sick and what they can and can’t eat. It doesn’t take Sam long to cook the chicken, and soon he’s sitting back in his chair. He’s about to lay the plate on the floor when you hop onto his lap. He chuckles and makes enough room so that it’s comfortable for both of you.
“Want me to feed you?” he asks.
He does so without your response since he knows how much you like it. Even as a human, you like it when people feed you (especially Sam). He takes a big piece of chicken and holds it out for you, and you snatch it up. The chicken is at the right temperature, so it doesn’t burn your mouth, and you quickly swallow it. You eat everything on the plate in less than five minutes. It would have taken you one or two, but you wanted to take your time with this.
As soon as Sam moves the plate out of the way, you rest your head on his chest and close your eyes. You’re very tired and worn out, and he allows you to use him as a pillow. He smells so good and feels so comfy that you don’t want to move. He reaches up and pets your head while reading his book with one hand. He scratches your head lightly with his fingernails, and it’s enough o put you into a light sleep.
Dean comes in while wiping the oil that’s on his hands off on a towel and sees you and Sam together. He knows his brother has had a crush on you for the past few years, and he’s never done anything about it. He knows about your crush on his brother too, and he’s going to do something about it soon if you two don’t.
“What’s going on?” he asks and nods to you.
“She’s sick, and so I made her some chicken to eat.”
“You tell her how you feel yet?”
“No, Dean, and I don’t think I’m going to.”
“Why not? She’s the perfect woman for you. Why are you so afraid?”
“Can we not talk about this right now? She’s right here.”
“She’s asleep. I can hear her snores even from where I’m standing. What are you afraid of?”
“I’m not,” Sam mumbles.
“Bullshit.”
“Would you just drop it?”
“How can I when I always see you two eye-fucking each other whenever either of you looks away. You know she won’t turn you down.”
“I know. I guess that’s what I’m afraid of. She deserves someone better than me.”
“You are the only one who is good for her. We’ve known her for, what, ten years? I’ve never seen two people get along so well like the two of you.”
“How can I be sure I’d give her what she needs? What she wants? She... I mean--she’s... she’s sweet, and she’s beautiful, and she’s just kinda sorta perfect. What can I offer her?”
“That’s a question you have to answer. Ask her out before someone else does. She won’t wait for you forever,” Dean says and leaves the room.
Sam knows you’ll eventually give up waiting for him and look for someone else. He knows he should have asked you out years ago, but he’s too afraid that you won’t ever be satisfied with him. He can’t give you everything you deserve, and he doesn’t know how you feel about that. If you happened to reject him, he won’t ever come back from that. It’ll ruin what you two have now. But, then again, if you accept him for who he is, then he could have years filled with love and happiness with the woman he loves.
The reason you went to Sam is that he makes you feel safe. There is no one in the entire world you’d rather spend your life with than the man whose arms you’re in. He may not be able to give you everything you want, but he definitely gives you everything you need.

A/N: For the Titles Are Hard challenge, by @impala-dreamer
If you don’t want spoilers...Don’t read the prompt until after, but I’ve combo’d it with this post from @writing-prompt-s. Since it has to be 3k or under I will probably have to make it a mini-series...as my readers know my usual runs around 6k or 9k.

You tuck your arm under your head, pressing your face into your forearm. You grasp a handful of the back of your head in frustration, scratching your scalp beneath your hair. You place your other arm over your head, covering your ear with your bicep to drown out the tormented sounds of your roommate. This bed is so flat and thin that you can’t get comfortable. You tuck your face closer into the pillow, but it smells musty and like stale laundry detergent.
Conceding to your restlessness you turn onto your back and stare at the grayish ceiling above the pale blue walls. Translucent moonlight seeps through the window and in it’s rays you can see dust swirling overhead. The metal bed frame across the room rattles with the shakes of it’s occupant. Poor soul, probably another nightmare.
Maybe a late night chat would calm her down and one of you could get some form of sleep. You swing your legs out of bed and touch them to the floor. You observe the trembling form under the sheets and frown, wondering what’s brought her to this place. With a sigh you pull yourself up and slowly walk toward her bed. She is facing the wall and you’re not sure what the most gentle way to wake her is, but you don’t want her to keep suffering.
Your hand reaches out toward her shoulder delicately, but you catch yourself. Didn’t you hear something about not waking a person in a nightmare? Was it a nightmare or a night terror? What was the difference again? Maybe it was sleep walking...
As you wonder what would be the right thing to do, your roommate stirs in her bed. You make your decision and lean in toward her, but before you get too far she whips herself over to face you. She shrieks in terror at your darkened face in the night and pushes herself back into the wall.
“No, no, it’s ok. It’s me, Y/N,” you try to calm her, but every time you move closer she shrills louder.
The lights snap on overhead and two nurses rush into the room, “Get back!” one yells at you and obediently you retreat to your side of the room.
“I was only trying to help,” you shake as her screams vibrate through the room. They carry her away and shut the door in haste. A moment later a nurse cracks the door open and looks in on you.
“We understand darling, don’t worry she will be just fine,” she sighs and walks halfway into the room, “It’s just, in a place like this, you can’t approach people like that.” She looks at you sympathetically and crosses her palms in front of her belly politely.
Tears begin to well up in your eyes, “I was only-I was trying- I just wanted to-wanted to help her,” you stutter, fighting the whirling panic.
The nurse shakes her head kindly, “Don’t be upset, my dear. I’ll give you helpful advice, as a rule keep your hands to yourself. You never know what kind of histories people have here. Abuse and what may be.”
You reflect her nod and suck in a deep breath, “Okay.” you wipe your tears away and she bows slightly, “There, there, everything is well, I promise.” she says before spinning on her heel and walking out of the room.
The lights dim out much slower than they flipped on and you face the ceiling, watching the filament lose it’s glow.
“It’s my first week here.” You fold your hands in your lap, pausing to meditate on everything that’s brought you to this chair. You fiddle your thumbs and when someone makes a guttural throat noise you stop fidgeting and run your hands down your thighs to your knees, smoothing out your robe.
“I have never had an episode before this month and I’m not sure what to say,” You raise your head and glance around the room, “I didn’t realize it could happen so suddenly. I thought you either had, erm,” you look at the faces in the circle and rephrase your thoughts in your head so that you don’t offend anyone, “mental issues, or you are….healthy.”
You wince, hoping that this isn’t the wrong thing to say, but nobody reacts much to your insults.
“Well, it’s not like I am insulting anyone here, because clearly I am here too.”
“You don’t need to be afraid to speak here.” A woman remarks as you continue to fumble your words.
“What brings you here?” She asks.
“Well,” You take a deep breath and close your eyes to recall a memory for you to describe, “I saw something that I can’t explain.” You scowl as you remember the flickering figure in your mind, “It was …well it wasn’t,” your throat is scratchy and you habitually touch your hand to your collarbone, “I don’t know why this is so difficult for me to get out.” Behind your eyelids you can see the form of a person in front of you, but they’re static and semitransparent.
A knot tightens in your stomach and you open your eyes to see some of your groupmates staring at you, or through you. Some of them aren’t paying attention, just sitting in their chairs focusing on something of their own.
You take a gulp and tell them, “I saw a ghost.”
Nobody says anything at first, but you feel conflicted saying it out loud, “I don’t know how to come to terms with it, because I know it wasn’t real, but whatever sort of hallucination it was-“
“You’re so clueless.” Someone in the circle scoffs and gets out of their chair dramatically.
The ringleader glares and shushes, “Don’t let anybody discourage you. Whatever you see is your truth. That’s why you came here to talk about it, right?”
You nod uncertainly but figure it’s something you’ll come to understand with time.
“I’m going to take a walk.” You say awkwardly to get out of the group, feeling very uncomfortable and looking for an excuse to be alone.
Some people in the group nod robotically and you stand up and bow gracelessly, unsure how to end this session.
Everybody ignores you as you walk out of the room and you keep your head down as you pass a few doctors or nurses or attendants. You haven’t bothered getting to know anybody. You aren’t sure the protocol for behavior in these circumstances. You feel completely normal. You don’t feel crazy, but at the same time you can’t explain why your head was making you see inexplicable things. Were you crazy, or were you having a mental breakdown?
Nobody really interacts with one another here, but you follow around the groups of people as it seems like the schedule is very flexible. You came in earlier in the week and explained your situation, and everybody was very gracious and understanding. It doesn’t seem like there are very strict rules, and you kind of like that.
Maybe a little bit more structure would be nice, but you weren’t sure what to expect when you checked yourself in. There is a certain amount of relief in the fact that you’re not tied down and force fed drugs in a straitjacket. Maybe that was a cartoonish idea of mental institutions, but you never had to think about it before. It seems more like a drug rehab facility; go, do whatever you want as long as you stay within the lines and talk it out.
Air swishes against your cheek and you turn to face an open arching frame leading outside. Following the path of cobblestones, you walk into an overgrown garden. You kneel down and observe the mismatched flowerbeds, growing into one another. Grass tickles your shins, desperately needing a shearing.
You notice a patch of dandelions and grab them close to the root to pull them up out of the ground. Most of the root comes out and you tuck it into your robe pocket after breaking the heads off. Five or six dandelion heads roll around in your palms and you pinch them by the stem to make a fluffy bouquet of wishes.
Your eyelids drooped down automatically and you hold your breath as you think of something you would like to wish for- Some clarity. You blow into your hands and most of the little seeds float away with the current of the air. A few remained in your hand, but you watched what floats away instead, following the path away from the garden with your eyes.
You inhaled sharply with a gasp as a man walks through the tall grass toward you. You choked on a couple of dandelion seeds that made their way into your throat with your sudden inhale. Your hand grasps at your throat and a voice booms over you, “Are you okay?”
You wave your free hand and turn away to spit out the offending obstruction.
You cover your mouth in embarrassment and turn back to the man, blushing as you look up at his towering height.
“I’m fine.” You say meekly and he crouches down across from you.
“What are you doing here?” He asks and you look around the empty garden before meeting his eyes, “I just wanted to go for a walk.” You shrug.
“How far did you come for your walk?” he scrutinizes you, huddled in the flowerbed in your dirty clothes.
“Oh,” you say with an air of insecurity, turning away from him when you catch yourself staring at the speckles in his eyes, “Not very far,” you giggle, figuring that he is teasing you.
“Why are you walking here?” He leans farther down to you and his hair fall in front of his face.
You turn back to him, glancing over his clothing. He doesn’t look like a patient, but he doesn’t look like any of the workers either.
“I was having a hard time dealing with …all of it I suppose.” You shrug and brush off dry dirt from your robe.
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m Sam.” He says apprehensively and stretches his hand out to you. Hesitant to touch him, you are left unsure of what to do. You were told you weren’t really supposed to touch anybody, but he looked friendly and unafraid.
“Oh, I’m Y/N.” you smile and decide to take his hand. It was calloused, but warm, and its large palm encompassed your entire hand in it.
“That’s lovely, Y/N.” Sam smiles at you and offers out his other hand, “Can I help you up?”
You stare at his forearms, rippled with muscles up to the point where his sleeves are rolled up to the elbow. Half hypnotized you nod and he grips your shoulder, swooping you up with him as he stands.
His chest is staring you in the face, or at least you feel as though it is, since the broad frame is captivating your field of vision. He laughs a hearty laugh and you feel tingles in your cheeks, probably tinging a pale pink right now. You step back from him and can’t help but get captivated by his shining smile.
Relaxing a little you breath relief, “Thank you.” You spin around, expecting that he is heading inside and begin to walk back to the archway.
“Wait, Y/N!” he steps toward you, but recoils back instantly.
You turn and furrow your brow in confusion, “Sam?”
“You shouldn’t go in there,” Sam tenses up, making you anxious. You spin around to make sure nobody was coming toward you, but you only saw someone far down the hall, not paying attention this way.
“What?” you turn back and blink at him, troubled by his tone, but very puzzled. He points to the building and shakes his head at you.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he indicates, making you laugh nervously. You walk back toward him, so the loud talking doesn’t attract the attention of any of the nurses.
“What do you mean?” you say in a hushed voice, wondering if there are rumors you should know about.
“This isn’t the kind of place for you to be hanging out, Y/N.” Sam hunches so that he is closer to your level.
“Hanging out? I’m not hanging out, Sam.” You screw up your face wondering if he doesn’t understand that you are a patient.
“I need help, Sam.” You assert to him, trying to make it clear why you are here.
“Okay, I can help you. Just tell me what’s wrong,” Sam very gently proposes.
Baffled, you tilt your head at him, “No, it’s okay Sam, that’s why I’m here.”
“Listen, Y/N,” Sam apprehensively steps toward you and casually takes your hand, “I’m not sure what kind of closure you are looking for, but this isn’t a safe place for you.
Your mind races, trying to make sense of what he is saying, but suddenly you think you might have figured out what is going on. Sam must be a patient here too.
“Oh, man.” You say as you smack your hand to your face, feeling duped by his charming appearance. Of course not all crazy people look …crazy. You don’t look crazy, or at least you don’t think.
“Y/N,” Sam says and puts his arm around your shoulder, “I understand that you are going through something, but this place is very haunted.” He tries to lead you away from the building, but you jerk out of his grasp.
“That isn’t funny.” You become very uneasy and cross your arms over your chest defensively, “Is this something the doctors told you to do?”
You wonder if this is some sort of immersion therapy, or perhaps a test by the nurses to see how much progress you’ve made. Are you supposed to make progress this soon? A week isn’t that long, shouldn’t they give you more time before something like this?
Sam slants his head trying to understand you but doesn’t speak right away, and his mouth forms a questioning circle.
“No, you can tell them that I haven’t seen anything.” You snap at him, feeling bad that he gets your backlash, but you are feeling very on edge right now.
Sam’s eyes shift around, but he finally forms the words to say “Y/N, no, I don’t think you understand,”
Either Sam is really good at his assignment, or maybe you were right in the first place, and he also sees ghosts.
“Y/N, you could get really hurt here.” Sam stands up straight, flustered with your lack of cooperation.
“Right now, I think the only person that can hurt me here is you.” You step backwards, sure to keep your eye on him as you retreat to safety.
“DON’T!” Sam shouts at you, but you throw your hands in front of yourself, “Don’t come any closer!” you shake your head furiously, “I’ll scream!”
“This is serious!” Sam beckons to you, worry written across his face, “You don’t know what those spirits can do to you.” He pleads with his desperate eyes.
You stop walking backward and stomp on the ground forcefully.
“That’s enough!” you squeeze your eyes shut, losing control of your voice, “GHOSTS AREN’T REAL!” your eyes begin to sting and you whirl toward the arches and run back to your room.
Sam closes the door to the motel room behind him and rubs the bridge of his nose in exasperation. He sighs and goes to tell his brother his findings of the institution.
“Dean?” Sam calls out when he finds the room empty.
A man swings open the bathroom door and walks out with a toothbrush gripped in his hand, “Did you scope it out? Gather any important information there?”
Dean leaves the door open and hovers over the bathroom sink, running water over the bristles. Sam falls into an armchair and pulls out his notepad.
“Actually, yeah,” he taps his notepad to his forehead and thinks about how to explain his encounter. Dean swishes the brush in his mouth and looks curiously over at his brother. He mumbles something through a mouth full of paste sounding like, “What’ve you got?”
“Someone was there,” Sam starts, chuckling at Dean’s peculiar expression, “Alive!” Sam says in surprise of his own.
Dean spits into the sink and rinses out his mouth before toweling off his hands and shouting back at Sam, “Oh yeah? What were they doing there?”
“I think she was staying there?” He says incredulously.
“What?” Dean bursts into the room, “Did she know that the place has been closed for 30 years?”

Having watchedthe fights between father and son, times spent together researching and laughing, the night he left and broke your heart. Especially when you found out aboutJess. Your past together has been long and filled with both happiness, pain andsadness. “Sam you know…”

“Your not telling me anything Idon’t know Y/N,” turning he sees the fire in your eyes along with t anguish.
“Oh but I will,” fists ballingwanting to land a good hit to his jaw. “Like why now? You could’ve said nothingand we could pretend to be friends.”
“I don’t wanna pretend anymore,”a deep sigh leaves his lips while stepping closer. Reaching out to grasp yourhand that you pull back from.
Shaking your head, “I’m sorry SamI can’t, things aren’t the same I have someone.”
“Tell me you love him more thanme and I’ll drop it.”
Stealing yourself, “I do love himmore I’m sorry Sam.” Words sounding hollow to your own ears but you couldn’t leton how much you wanted this. Not now when you’ve waited so long, partly yourown fault but now you’ve found someone you couldn’t just give that up on amaybe.

One of the most common ways a hunter relaxes is either by hitting up the gym, running a mile or ten, driving until they pass out, or anything closely related to those. For Dean, he likes to go on long drives by himself with the windows rolled down, wind in his hair, and his rock music blaring at him from all sides. Before Sam met you, he went on long runs that usually left him too tired to be stressed for anything.
However, after he met you, all that changed.
All your life, you’ve had really bad anxiety attacks that got to the point where you couldn’t even get out of bed in fear the bogeyman would get you or that you couldn’t even go to the store because of the large crowds. Your attacks got so bad that it was starting to affect your physical health more than your mind. Nothing seemed to work until you found medicinal marijuana. The smoke helps you relax and helps you realize that the bogeyman isn’t real, and those crowds of people have no interest in you.
You’re the one that got Sam into trying the drug, and once he got his first hit, he never went back to running--at least not to blow off steam.
Hope you don't regret it
I pushed a lot back but I can't forget it
We never got the credit
Nobody seemed to hear us but we said it
Neither of us planned it
And for a long time I took it all for granted
I really thought we had it
But at the time it was more than I could manage, so
When you first started living at the Bunker, you made sure to install speakers throughout each room so that when you’re alone, you can play the music that hooks up to the speakers. It’s nice to walk into any room you want and still hear the music playing. It doesn’t bother Sam, but Dean doesn’t prefer it. He only “allows” it whenever he’s not home, which just so happens to be now. Right now, The Neighbourhood’s You Get Me So High is playing loudly. The library is filled to the brim with marijuana smoke, and you and Sam are having the time of your lives.
It all started when you took a few hits to calm down since you knew a panic attack was coming on. You’ve been having them for most of your life, so you know what signs to look for when an attack is coming on. Sam happened to walk into the room and asked to join you. You’ve been here for hours, just singing, dancing, and smoking. It’s really relaxing, and you have to get Dean to try it sometime.
The song continues, and you look at Sam, who is sitting on the couch you placed inside the library. You moved the tables around a bit to include the sofa, and it’s been the center of attention ever since. Sam tips his head back and lets out a few puffs of smoke. He looks so incredibly sexy right now, you just can’t help but bounce over to him. He’s so relaxed, you don’t regret giving him that first joint that started all this.
Wish I didn't doubt it
I wish I never ever told you all about it
But I just had to let you know
I never meant to hurt you, though
I had all my motives
I didn't know they wouldn't mix with your emotions
I just had to reach my goals
Never knew I needed you though, so
“Sam,” you say in a sultry voice. He looks at you through hooded eyes. “Come dance with me.”
He places the joint between his lips and gets up. He walks over to you and grabs your hand, pulling you flush against his body. The music changes, but it’s still songs by the same band. You put on their playlist right now, so the only songs that are going to be playing are theirs.
Through the haze and the smoke, you watch Sam with a careful eye. You’ve gotten used to smoking weed over ¾ of your life, so the effects aren’t as strong as Sam is feeling them right now. Your body moves with his to the rhythm, and you take the risky move of twirling in his arms. When you face him, your feet accidentally step on his, which causes him to lose his balance. He falls back onto the couch, taking you with him.
You both stare into each other’s eyes before you both bust out laughing. Something about what you just did seems like the funniest thing in the world to you. The distance between you two is so small, and his lips look so shiny from his tongue, you can’t help but think of what else you’d like to be doing.
No, stop it. Sam is your best friend. Friend. What would he think if you actually kissed him? What would he--and his lips are on mine. Damn, they really are soft and smooth.
He couldn't help but kiss you when he noticed you staring at his own. There have been way too many “what ifs” and “will they, won’t they” moments between you two. One or both are always afraid to take that extra step, and he just took it. Maybe it’s the weed, but he’s done beating around the bush.
Used to stick together
You're my best friend, I'll love you forever
We could be the greatest, it doesn't matter if we're never rich or famous
The music fades into the background, the smoke clears, and all you can focus on is the man underneath you. He pulls his lips away from yours and starts to leave sloppy kisses down to your neck. It just so happens that your neck is your biggest ticklish spot. Many girls would melt if their neck is being kissed, but not you. You just turn into a giggling monster.
“Sam,” you giggle and scrunch your neck up.
Your laugh causes him to let out a breathy chuckle on your neck. His breath is hot, and it shouldn’t be sexy, but it’s only turning you on even more.
“Let this happen, please,” he whispers.
“But what about--”
“Don’t think. Just do.”
If you say no, you know he will back off without another word. Just the thought that he would consider your feelings like that is enough for you to succumb to his advances. You grab his face and press your lips against his in a bruising manner. You’re not normally this rough, but weed somehow does that to you.
Though, you do have to say, having sex while high is something everyone should experience.
High all the time, high all the time
I wanna be high all the time
Would you come with me?

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and in most cases, that proves to be true. Sometimes, when you stay home from a hunt and the brothers are out, you miss them so much that you actually find it in your heart to love them even more. When they get home, you jump in their arms and kiss their faces because you’re glad that they’re home. You spend all night in Sam’s bed, showing him just how much you missed him.
It’s times like those that you love, but you hate the waiting part. You hate the not knowing part. You hate the dread you get when you miss a phone call or when they don’t call at all. There’s always a reasonable explanation for it all, but it still doesn’t make you feel better.
Not until you’re back in his arms, and he’s back in yours.
I see the questions in your eyes
I know what's weighing on your mind
You can be sure I know my heart
'Cause I'll stand beside you through the years
You'll only cry those happy tears
And though I make mistakes
I'll never break your heart
“Do you really have to go?” you whimpered, hanging onto his hand tightly as if that would make him change his mind and stay.
“You could come with. You seem to be feeling better,” Sam suggested. It was taking everything in you to not blurt out the secret you’ve been hiding from him for weeks now. Saying it would change everything, and his whole life would be turned upside down. He would want to stop hunting to be by your side, and when the little bundle of joy came into the world, then he would stop hunting forever.
The world needed people like him, which is why you kept your mouth shut.
“I’m still throwing up. I can’t go,” you sighed. Yes, you were throwing up, but it wasn't because you were sick. Sam and Dean were supposed to be gone for about three weeks since this hunt was on the other side of the country, and it’s was one of the toughest monsters they’ve faced, so it required more time on their part.
“I promise to call every single night. I know that look, and this time, I promise I will. I won’t let you down, Y/N. We have to go now, but I’ll be back before you know it,” he promised, giving you a lasting kiss on your lips. With a sigh, you watched as the older brother pulled out of the garage with the father of your unborn child in the passenger seat.
I'll give you every thing I can
I'll build your dreams with these two hands
We'll hang some memories on the walls
And when just the two of us are there
You won't have to ask if I still care
'Cause as the time turns the page, my love won't age at all
It’s finally here; the moment you’ve been waiting for three weeks. Sam was finally coming home, and this time, it’s going to be him that has the surprise. As much as you wanted to hide the bump you knew you were showing off, you realized you wanted him to find out. It’s been twelve weeks since you got pregnant, and you couldn’t wait to tell him. If all this time apart has taught you anything, it’s how much you knew he would love this news.
The bunker door opened, but you stayed right where you are despite your body wanting to run to him.
“Y/N?” he called out when you didn’t greet him like you usually did.
“In here,” you called out, still firmly planted on the ground. You made sure to wear your revealing outfit so he wouldn’t doubt that you were pregnant. He and his older brother walked into the room, and both of their eyes immediately went to the hump on your stomach. They dropped their bags to the ground, and Sam walked slowly over to you.
“Are you…? Are we…?” he couldn’t seem to finish his questions.
“Yes, and yes,” you grinned. He scooped you up happily and spun you around before planting you on the ground once more.
“Congratulations, Y/N,” Dean smiled, leaning down and kissing your cheek. He left the room to give you and Sam some privacy.
“How…?”
“I’m pretty sure you know how,” you chuckled. “When I was throwing up, it was morning sickness. I didn’t know how to tell you before. I’m sorry I waited all this time, but I was scared. I don’t want you to stop hunting just because of me.”
“I can’t even think about hunting right now when all I can think about is what we’re going to paint their room.”
“What?” you giggled, looking into his eyes.
“I will transform this Bunker into the home you’ve always wanted. I’ll paint the walls whatever color you want, and we’ll buy everything we can that ensures our child will be comfortable. I will build whatever you need, and we can start taking pictures and hanging them on the walls. We can make this place look like a real home. I’ll do anything you want; all for you.”
“Sam,” you whispered, wrapping your arms around his neck and hugging him tightly.
“I won’t let you down,” he whispered. You didn't know if he was talking to you or the baby, but you knew he wouldn’t.
“We know,” you whispered back.
And I swear by the moon and the stars in the sky
I'll be there
I swear like a shadow that's by your side
I'll be there
For better or worse, till death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart
And I swear
“You’re taking me to Disney World?” you asked with a grin. He made you come on this hunt with him and Dean. He assured you that you didn't have to do any hunting, but he didn’t tell you why he was making you come with them. It’s been three months since he found out you were pregnant, and he’s been the perfect father-to-be. He made sure you got whatever you wanted and needed, and he made sure the baby heard their father’s voice every single night.
You both decided not to know the gender of the baby since you thought you would enjoy the surprise. The only person who knew was Dean since he stated that it would drive him crazy not knowing. He promised to keep his mouth shut, and so far, he’s been doing a good job of that.
“Yeah. We are doing a hunt near here, and I thought it would be good to take you here,” Sam smiled as you two walked into the park. There were screaming kids everywhere, which only reminded you that you would have one of your own soon.
“Is the hunt over with?”
“Dean is taking care of it as we speak. He gave us the evening to come here.”
“I can’t really ride most of these rides. I’m afraid you wasted your money.”
“We’re not going on the rides. Well, not the ones you can’t go on,” he grinned.
“Samuel, what do you have planned?”
“You’ll see,” he chuckled, leading you through the park. All day, you two went on the rides that you were able to go on like It’s A Small World After All and relaxing rides like those kinds. It’s only until the end of the day when he really let you in on why he took you there. As soon as it hit midnight, the park let off a stream of fireworks. The colors burst in different shapes and sizes all around you. Purple, blue, red, orange, yellow, and so many other colors exploded into the air, creating the perfect atmosphere for the two of you.
Sam looked down at you with such love and admiration, already planning the next steps in his head. He made a promise to himself that he was always going to be there for you no matter what. No matter if it’s through the bad times or the good times, through sickness or in health, or any other kind of situation. He was always going to make sure that you were well taken care of--you and his child.
This was the moment that he made a promise to himself that he was going to marry you sooner rather than later.

“Where are you going?” you muttered when you felt the bed shift. Sam was quietly packing his duffel bag which only meant one thing: he was planning on going somewhere for a few days… again.
“Dean called. He kind of needs my help right now,” he sighed when he realized he woke you up.
“I thought he could take care of this hunt alone. We were supposed to have the weekend together,” you sighed as you turned on the bedside lamp.
“He thought he could. He called telling me that Michael was fighting really hard inside his head and he’s not focusing as much as he should. He would rather have me there instead of someone dying because he screwed up. I’ll be back in two short days and we can resume our weekend together. Go back to sleep,” he said as he leaned down and kissed your forehead. “I love you.”
You waited until he left the room to fall back on the bed in defeat.
“Sometimes it doesn’t feel like you do,” you said to no one in particular.
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
And maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
If I made you feel second best
Girl I'm sorry I was blind
“Sam? Where are you? I thought you were supposed to be home in two short days,” you asked over the phone. There was no one in this Bunker except for you and Jack, and as much as you loved the Nephilim, you really wanted your boyfriend back.
“We got sidetracked. We were on our way home, but then we passed through Washington D.C., and I had to stop at the Library of Congress. I heard their lore section is one of the best,” he sounded happy.
“That’s great, babe, but what about our weekend?”
“Don’t worry, darling. I promise I’ll be home tonight. For the next few days, I will be all yours. I got to go. Love you!” he said before quickly hanging up. A tear forced its way out of your eye, and you aggressively wiped it away. Dean will always be put in front of you because that was his older brother. In some ways, you understood why Sam would put you below his brother, and you weren't complaining when he did. It’s just when he does it over and over again, you constantly felt like second best when you should be feeling first. Maybe you were overreacting about this whole thing, but the relationship you have with Sam is starting to feel a little more one-sided than it’s supposed to.
“You okay?” Jack asked when he saw you standing in the middle of the library alone.
“Yeah,” you looked up at him eventually. “Fine.”
And maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
I guess I never told you
I am so happy that you're mine
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
“Hey, are you coming to bed?” you asked Sam when you found him with his nose in a book. It was late, he was tired, and you really just wanted his arms around you.
“Yeah, but I have to finish this first.”
“What is it?” you asked as you walked over to him.
“It’s supposed to be something on Jack and his soul. I am really worried that he’s burning it off too quickly. I would hate to think what would happen if he was without a soul so I need to do research to prevent that.”
“That’s not for you to do. Not right now at least. It’s late, and you really need some sleep. You can look at it with fresh eyes in the morning. Come to bed with me,” you begged.
“I will later. I don’t want you waiting up for me anymore,” he said without looking at you. If he had looked up, he would have seen the multitude of tears rolling down your cheeks. Instead of answering, you turned and left to the bedroom. Not his, though, but yours that you had when you first moved in when you and Sam were only friends. He’s always putting shit in front of you, and you just about had enough.
Tell me
Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
And give me
Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied
I'll keep you satisfied
“Hey, where’s Y/N?” Sam asked his brother. Dean was sitting at the kitchen table with a piece of paper in his hands. He realized some of what you have been feeling these past few months, but he never realized just how bad it had gotten otherwise he would have smacked Sam in the head for treating you this way.
“She’s gone,” he cleared his throat.
“She’s what? What are you talking about?”
“If I had known this was happening, I would have whooped your ass,” Dean said as he left the note on the table. He exited the kitchen to give his brother some space to read the note. Sam gulped nervously before picking up the letter with your unique handwriting on it.
Sam,
I get that you’re trying to help people: Dean with his Michael problem and Jack with his soul problem. I get that they need you in their lives to help solve their problems. It’s one of the reasons why I fell in love with you in the first place. I get that Michael and Jack are far too important to ignore, but it’s not enough to ignore me completely.
For these last few months, I have been patient. You were stressed, there were issues that needed to be dealt with and people to be taken care of. But what about me? I am your girlfriend, Sam, and for these past few months, I have felt like second best. There are times when Dean and Jack come before me, and I’m not complaining that they are. But you’ve been dismissing me every chance you get to focus on those two which is why I decided to make things a little easier for you.
I’m leaving. I don’t know how long or where I’ll be going, but I really want you to take this time to think about your priorities. I would never, in a million years, ask you to choose between me and your brother. That wouldn’t be fair. But I think you made the choice all on your own.
Goodbye Sam. I’m not so sure I’ll be there when I get back. If I come back.
I deserve better.
Sam didn’t realize he had been crying until he saw the water droplets on the bottom of the page. He didn’t realize what he’d been doing to you these past few months. Of course, you were always on his mind, but he never took time out of his busy life to prove that to you. He never wanted you feeling like this in the first place, and he hates himself for putting you in that position.
“From where I stand, you got two options,” Dean said from the entrance to the kitchen. Sam turned around and stared at his brother as if he needed him to make his decision for him. “Let her go or prove to her that she’s more than second best. Let her find someone who can always put her first or be that man. Let her go or be the man that deserves to be in her life.”
“I didn’t realize…”
“I know, but it’s what happened. I just happen to know where she is. So, what’s it going to be?”
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind (you were always on my mind)
You were always on my mind
Flipping through the channels on the tv in the shitty motel room you managed to snag, you brought your knees up to your chest in contemplation. Were you right to leave Sam? Should you have talked to him about this before leaving? Were you just overreacting? When was your Chinese food going to come? Your stomach rumbled at the thought of food, and suddenly, Sam was replaced instantly in the back of your mind.
A knock came from your door, and your mouth watered at the thought of having chicken dumpling soup that you loved so much. Grabbing the cash on the table, you went to the door before opening it without looking to see who it was. It wasn’t the Chinese delivery man, it was Sam. The smile disappeared off your face, and Sam’s heart broke that he made it be that way. His eyes were bloodshot as if he’d been crying and his nose was a bit puffy from blowing it every ten seconds.
“What do you want?” you asked with a sigh as you turned away from him. He took that as an okay to step inside, and he closed the door behind him.
“I don’t think there are any words to describe how sorry I am,” he began as you turned to face him with your arms crossed over your chest. “I didn’t realize what I’d been doing to you until it was too late. You were right to leave, I was a shitty boyfriend.”
“Is this you breaking up with me?”
“Is that what you want?”
“Fuck, no, Sam! I just want to be recognized! I want to be first for once. It’s always been Dean or Jack and never me. I don’t want to break up with you, but if you can’t give me what I want, then I might just have to.”
“You were always on my mind,” he whispered. “There wasn’t a second that went by that I wasn’t thinking about you. Remember when I said Dean and I were stopping at the Library of Congress? I lied, we weren't stopping there.”
“What are you talking about? You lied to me?”
“I needed his opinion to get this,” he said as he reached into his jacket pocket to produce a ring box. Your whole world froze as you stared at the little box, and you didn’t think you would be able to talk even if you wanted to. “There was only one store that had the exact cut I was looking for, and when he mentioned his hunt was going to be near there, I had to go. He did need help, but we finished that within a day and I spent all my time thinking of this. I was gonna do it when the time felt right, but then Jack happened and Michael happened, and I guess those were just excuses so I could put it off.”
“And what’s the excuse now?” you whispered once you found your voice.
“There is none,” he said truthfully as he got down on one knee. He opened the box to reveal such a beautiful diamond ring. He got the cut, size, and type of diamond exactly how you wanted it. This ring was your dream engagement ring.
He remembered.
“I don’t deserve your love, and if you want to give yours to someone else then I’ll walk away, but I hope you’ll continue to give to me even though I may not deserve it. What you do deserve is someone who will hold you, love you, make you laugh, and let you be the best version of yourself that you can be. I will provide that for you and more because I finally see what’s in front of me even though it took you leaving for me to realize. You were always on my mind, and I promise never to make you feel like second best. If you’ll have me, will you do me the honor of becoming your husband?”
“Yes,” you whispered as tears streamed down your face. Sam grinned widely as he got up and placed the ring on your left ring finger. He grabbed your cheeks and kissed you passionately and full of love.
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“Pack your things. We’re going to a better place for our weekend. Dean is holding down the fort to give us a week to ourselves, and I picked the perfect place to do so,” he grinned.
“Will there be chocolate?” you asked with a grin.
“Yes.”
“Bubble baths?”
“Of course.”
“Sex?” you giggled.
“Guaranteed,” he smiled as he kissed you again.

The one thing you made clear to Sam when you agreed to go out with him is that you wanted to take things slow. All of your past relationships were very fast and quick, and by the time you and your past boyfriends settled down, there was no spark. It took you a while to figure out it was only a physical relationship with those other men, but you were still scared of taking things fast in case what you have with Sam isn’t anything more than that.
Sam was just a very special person, and you two met when you were at a pretty low point in your life. Things just weren't making a lot of sense to you, and things weren't going the way you’d hope which is why you asked him to come back later and see if you were better then. It wasn’t going to be fair to him if you were at such a low point and to bring him into all of your problems. He saw something in you that was worth waiting, so he told you he would wait however long it would take until you were ready to move further.
Some of your problems began to go away, and there are still a shit ton left, but you felt in a right place to bring Sam back into your life. Like he promised, he had waited for you. That was the first sign you saw that told you he was the one for you. He agreed to take things slow if it meant you were happy. With the life he leads, it was a nice change of pace at taking things slow compared to how fast his life seems to be going.
There were times, and are, when you mentally hit yourself in the face for asking to take things slow, but it feels nice when it’s with Sam.
It’s a different kind of slow burn that you can’t help but need all the time.
Born in a hurry, always late
Haven't been early since '88
“Sorry I’m late!” you apologized as you rushed into the restaurant. The hostess looked at you weird as you rushed past her, but when she saw you join Sam at his table, she let it go and tended to another customer.
“You’re always late,” he chuckled as he stood up to greet you. He kissed you softly but sweetly, and the two of you took a seat opposite of each other.
“I know, but usually not this late. How do you put up with this? I even get annoyed by myself,” you huffed as you set your jacket and purse on the chair next to yours.
“I don’t mind it at all,” he said with an adoring gaze. A light pink blush crept up from your neck, and you tried to will it away.
“I didn’t mean to make you wait this long. You must be starving.”
“I already had our orders put in. Steak, medium rare, with a baked potato and asparagus and butter on the side,” he grinned proudly.
“You do pay attention,” you teased, but glad he loved you enough to order for you.
“I do,” he laughed, ready to start talking about how your day went.
Texas is hot, I can be cold
Grandma cried when I pierced my nose
Good in a glass, good on green
Good when you're putting your hands all over me
“I can’t believe you’re wearing that!” you exclaimed over the loud music. There was a hunt going on in town, and Dean agreed to do this night solo to give you and Sam some time to spend with each other even if it meant doing so in a club. It was the only source of entertainment, and the restaurants were too run down to even be considered. Dean so graciously let his brother wear his leather jacket, which, if it were up to you, would always stay on his body.
“Dean lent it to me!” he yelled.
“What?” you asked, scrunching your face in confusion. Sam grabbed your waist and pulled you flush against his body, but with the overwhelming amount of people in the club, you spun so that your back hit his chest. He held you close to his body as his right hand traveled down your waist and his left arm gripped your shoulder as he moved your hair out of the way. He leaned down and pressed his lips to the shell of your ear.
“I said Dean lent this to me. I don’t normally wear leather,” he spoke lowly. His voice sounded so husky with how close he was to you, and all you could think about was his hands all over your body.
“I like it. It looks very good on you,” you said as you turned your head slightly. He could only grin as both hands gripped your hips. Times like these made you really curse at yourself for asking to take things slow. Maybe for one night, you could break some rules.
In Tennessee, the sun's goin' down
But in Beijing, they're heading out to work
You know the bar down the street don't close for an hour
We should take a walk and look at all the flowers
“You guys are nerds,” Dean scoffed when he saw you open the date night jar you made a long time ago for nights like these. On each popsicle stick that was placed inside was an idea for a date, but you and Sam put your own little twist on it. On one side was a place or an object in your handwriting while the other side was the same thing but in Sam’s. If a stick was chosen that had the words “stars” and “pizza”, you might take some pizza to a planetarium as you enjoyed the night sky. It was a fun way to make the dates more creative.
“This is actually very fun. You should try it sometime,” you nodded.
“Yeah, I’ll get right on that,” he said as he left the motel room.
“Okay, you can pick this time,” you said to Sam who reached into the jar and pulled out a popsicle stick. He held out the side with his handwriting to you while he got to see the word that you wrote on the other side.
“Bar.”
“Flowers,” you said at the same time as he.
“This is interesting,” he laughed. Dean was rubbing off on you a bit as he stared at the word bar scribbled in your handwriting.
“I know!” you gasped as you straightened up. “There’s a bar down the street which doesn’t close for an hour. We can talk a walk and look at all the flowers.”
“Now that sounds like a plan,” he grinned as you both got up to head into town. Next to the bar was a row of flower beds that covered the span of about a mile, so you were looking forward to this relaxing date.
I'm alright with a slow burn
Taking my time, let the world turn’
I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright
If we burn it down and it takes all night
It's a slow burn, yeah
“Hey, Y/N?” Sam muttered as the two of you sat on the couch, entangled in each other’s limbs. Your head didn’t move from the position on his chest, but you answered him anyway.
“Yeah?”
“I was thinking…”
“What is it?” you asked when he paused after trailing off.
“I was thinking about your terms when you decided you were ready for me. You wanted to take it slow,” he began. It’s been about a year and a half since you asked that from him. “Do you still want to take it slow?”
A small smile appeared on your face at his question. This year and a half were so much more fun than the other relationships because you actually knew who Sam was and not just his body. It’s been a year and a half, and you weren't scared anymore of commitment.
“No, I don’t think I do,” you grinned.
Guess you found the right one to be with.

The word “goodbye” is such a sad word you hated using it. The word “goodbye” meant, for you, that you were never going to see the person you’re saying it to again. It’s bad enough that you’re in this line of work because you never know when the last time you’ll see someone, especially Sam Winchester.
You two have had a thing going on for quite some time, but neither of you put a label on it. You two kissed, did stuff couples do, but you never went far enough to put a label on it. You two never went all the way, but you’ve done enough to know that you were Sam’s and he was yours despite there is no label. It’s not that you didn't want to put a label on it, it was just complicated. Hunting was always going to make you busy enough to the point where you’ll have to choose it over Sam and vice versa.
The worst thing about hunting was the fact that you never knew when it would be the last time you saw someone. It could be days without hearing from your friends, only to find out that they’ve died from some monster getting revenge. Sam and Dean were the best of the best, so it was unlikely they were going to die at the hands of a monster, but it still scared you.
All your life you’ve had to say goodbye to friends and family that have either left you or died. It sucked saying goodbye, especially when you loved that person. The thought of never seeing your parents again or your best friend brought severe sadness over you. You wished you had said, “see you later” instead of “goodbye” because at least with the former, you knew you were going to cross paths again eventually.
Every single time you went out to do the shopping for the month, or went to see a potential witness without the brothers, or had to do something on your own, you would say “see you later”. At first, Sam didn’t know why you would say that until you had to explain it to him in great detail that almost left you in a crying mess. He admired that you hated saying goodbye because it shined a light on your soul that usually wasn’t present in hunters. There was a purity about you that he never wanted gone. In this line, that kind of purity is rare, and he was glad that it was inside of you.
Over the past few years, you were in charge of finding new cases to take on with the brothers. It was hard to see what kind of things these monsters do, but you almost always kill the bad guy in the end. Hunting wasn’t easy, and it was putting a damper on your emotional state as you expected it to. It made you not think clearly sometimes, especially now when you caught wind of a cursed and mysterious object that was causing people to tap into their rage until it killed them.
There was a video cassette that was cursed, and it was being pawned off to different shops since they to wind of how much it was. Whoever touches it with their bare hands became primal until they killed themselves out of anger or someone else killed them because of it. Sam and Dean were angry people beneath the surface whether they want to admit it or not. Years of abandonment issues, daddy issues, and self-deprecation all built up into this untapped anger that was just waiting to be released.
However, you couldn't just ignore it and wait for another hunter to pick up on it, so it was up to you to get it done without the brother’s knowledge. It wasn’t unlike you to put yourself in the line of danger when it came to the brothers. Countless times, you’ve told them how much your life doesn’t matter when it came to theirs. The world looked to them to save it whenever there was a disaster striking. They saved the world countless times effortlessly, so it would need them more than it needs you.
Without the brother’s knowing, you packed your bag in the middle of the night, took one of the cars in the garage, and left town knowing you might not make it back. If things go south, then you would become so angry that you would want to kill yourself out of frustration. Luckily for you, there wasn’t a lot of anger in your body. You grew up in a loving family, no one close to you died for you to be a hunter, and you got everything you needed and more. The only reason you got into hunting was that Sam and Dean came to town, you fell for Sam, you found them knees deep in a grave when you went to visit your mom, and you thought it would be fun to join them.
Once people realized how dangerous this video cassette tape was, they locked it in a storage unit and didn’t even open it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in a warded box which you had to make from scratch in order to contain its power. It’s said to have such a powerful influence, that it didn’t really need to be touched in order for it to work. The power radiates off it, drawing in unsuspecting victims until they are forced to touch it.
The drive to the town wasn’t long, but as soon as you entered it, you could feel the power pulsating throughout the city. Everyone looked angry, but none of them acted on it since they haven’t touched the object. The address you got from the pawnshop that had the video cassette last told you where they put it which is where you were headed now.
As soon as you got to your motel, your phone started ringing. Knowing it was one of the brothers, most likely Sam, you answered it without looking at it.
“I know what you’re going to say,” you began.
“Where the hell are you?” Sam asked. He woke up to find you weren't in your room, and then he found something interesting on your computer that you accidentally left open for anyone to see. Luckily it didn’t show what you were after, just the town you were in.
“I’m in Nebraska.”
“I know that but what the hell are you doing there? Dean and I are freaking out because you were gone in the middle of the night!”
“I can’t really explain because I need you two to stay home, okay? Please just trust me because this is for the best. I love you, but I do have to go. Goodbye Sam, and tell Dean I said goodbye too,” you said before hanging up. Tears were threatening to spill over, which is why you hung up so quickly. Saying goodbye was heartbreaking to you, and you never thought you would have to say it to Sam.
“What the hell did she say?” Dean asked. Sam lowered the phone with a worried look.
“She said goodbye.”
“Oh, we have to go,” Dean declared, grabbing his keys and rushing to the car with his brother.
The closer you got to the mysterious object, the more it’s powers affected you. As soon as you drove into the storage place, you began coughing harshly. There wasn’t anything in the air, you didn’t swallow something bad, and there wasn’t anything that would make you cough this harshly. Putting your hand to your mouth, you coughed into it. Your throat burned at the sensation, and when you pulled your hand away, there was blood staining your skin.
The video cassette is already affecting you, and you didn't want to know what would happen if you touched it. You would stop coughing up blood as soon as you got it into the box you had made especially for it. Getting out of the car, you looked for the storage unit that contained the cursed object. You knew you found it without the slip of paper due to the magnetic forces that were emitting from the unit.
“You can do this, Y/N,” you breathed slightly, staring at the closed unit. Your insides began boiling slightly, but you knew it was due to the influence of the cassette tape. Lifting your hand, you were just about to open the storage unit when you hard your name being called from behind. Turning around, you saw Sam and Dean running over to you.
“Great,” you muttered to yourself as you walked over to them. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“What are you doing here? Why did you go about this alone?” Sam asked. He could feel the powers of the cursed object, but he ignored the influence as did Dean.
“Come on, are you really asking that question? The world needs you two. If you accidentally got your hands on this thing, you would grow angrier until you killed yourself. Do you know how much anger is in the two of you? I was doing the world a favor, you idiots. It needs you two more than it needs me.”
“You’re the idiot if you think we don’t need you,” Dean glared.
“Yeah, Y/N. We’re family, and like it or not, but we stick together. We take each case as a family no matter what the ending is like. You think you’re the only one who hates saying goodbye? When you said that to me, my whole world stopped because I thought you were going to get yourself killed without us. Yeah, we’ll do that together too because that’s what families do.”
“But--”
“No buts. We will finish this thing together. And if something goes wrong, then we’ll figure that out together too. We always do,” Sam concluded as he took the box you made from your hands.
“Now, let’s go get this son of a bitch,” Dean grinned.
