update time again, yet I'm NOT going to watch an episode tonight. Need to catch up with some sleep. *grins*
Now the whole "Boat" story is fascinating. Johnny and Chet work together to get all on board, and then Chet mentions it to Charlie and it backfires for the station. Ouch!

Incoming fire call

*sigh*
This footage is replayed a few times in Season 6, so it always looks like Sam Lanier's coworker goes on break every time a call comes in.
In all seriousness, though. Can anyone explain how this works? Are they looking up address and corresponding station info?

One of the things I like about the Emergency episode "Equipment" is that we get to see the LA County Fire Department Headquarters, including the dispatch center and dispatcher Sam Lanier.
This episode was directed by Kevin Tighe. I wonder if it was Kevin's idea to include these scenes? It's much more interesting than a shot of the station's speaker when they get a call from Dispatch.
Sam Lanier was the voice of the LA County Fire Department dispatch on Emergency, but I think this is the first episode where we get to see him. Correction: We first see him in "Stewardess," the first episode of Season 5.
Sam was a real-life dispatcher for LA County. According to an article reprinted on emergencyfans.com, Sam worked as a dispatcher from 1958 to 1977. He later worked as a Fire Safety Adviser to film production companies in the Los Angeles area, until his sudden death in 1997.
