2.09 The Lost Heir Job

- Before we even start I’d like to take the opportunity to say not only welcome Tara Cole but also welcome Jimmy Popadokalis! :P

- naaaaaaate still so stupid sighhhh

- can we talk about how tara pulls THE SAME CON on our peeps that sophie did on dubinich in the nigerian job? where each party thinks she’s with the OTHER party?

- man tara is having So Much Fun being insufferable. she should fit right in :P

- god the popadokalis suit hurts my eyes

- “we’re gonna go get meth???”

2.08: The Iceman Job

- Man I have tried like three times to watch this and something keeps coming up, I know some people don’t like it at all but I just legit just can’t manage to watch it lol

- I’m so glad we’re back in Portland -- i mean excuse me, “Boston” -- so I can yell HEY I KNOW THAT BRIDGE!

- Love Hardison’s pigeon shirt, it’s EXACTLY what what hipsters were wearing at the time

- oh yay it’s the one where everybody’s secretly calling sophie it’s adorable

- I don’t think I’ve ever heared the word “appletini” outside of Scrubs before

- I get that “iceman” is because diamonds, but with the way they put nods in to all the actors, it’s also bc of that godawful early H*tton movie, right? At least the wiki summary sounds godawful and it’s not like i’m gonna WATCH it. But anyway, gotta put that out there cause i always wondered about that.

- lmaoooooo he’s being sterling, i was WONDERING when he put that suit on if that’s what it was

- wow when they joked about hardison’s accents getting better in the new season i figured they were exaggerating since all the accents on this show have always been silly, but no, man, i have no idea what he’s saying half the time

- poor parker’s so grumpy about not getting to be the diamond guy :( let parker be the diamond guy, make hardison wear the slinky dress :P 

- asfdj;kl i am just doomed to never be able to get through this episode, my parents’ dogs have now decided it’s time to play ball right on top of me.

- Eliot: Well can you turn invisible in sixty seconds? Me, yelling at the TV: YES SHE CAN JUST TRIGGER THE OPAQUE GAS!!!!

- aw i guess that wasn’t the plan exactly but it would have been GOOD!

- Naaaaaaaaaate ur SO CLOSE and yet still SO DUMBASS

- Is nate wearing CONVERSE? That’s weird, right?

- in conclusion: naw i don’t think it’s a bad episode, everybody’s got episodes where they screw stuff up, i think it’s all fair enough. actually no, eliot and sophie both seem to always have shit handled on their end, don’t they? huh, it’d be interesting to see The Day Eliot and/or Sophie Screws Up. Add that to my wishlist for the new stuff :)

2.06 - The Top Hat Job

i will never understand why sophie tries to set nate up with this client when literally all she knows is that this lady drinks in a way that makes nate jealous

love that hardison’s system apparently is hooked into all the electricity in nate’s apartment

holding my breath with fear that parker’s going to jump in the willamette. good thing she didn’t, that river is nasty

i love when eliot just SAYS SHIT like “i only sleep 90 minutes a day” and there’s just like, no way to tell when he’s bullshitting

oh god i didn’t put the magician on my list of most embarassing nate roles, did i? well it deserves an honorable mention at least

i like parker’s nose. that’s all. it’s a cute nose.

oh it’s called Lillian foods bc it’s similar to Beatrice. Oh the logo even looks similar!

Except for getting beat up at the beginning, Eliot is having such a good time this episode, he’s literally just standing around snarking half the time, what is he even supposed to be DOING?

i like that nate can ACTUALLY do the magic tricks, but he also steals the guy’s watch for the hell of it (unless parker stole it and handed it off to him? both options are good)

much like how they have all these tech tricks to get through the security but then to get the retina scan they just give up and steal the entire boss

ooh HARDISON gets hit in this one, that’s a fun change

2.10: The Runway Job

- OH NO BRACE YOURSELVES PEOPLE. We’ve survived the Popadokalis Suit only to be faced with the even worse threat of THE VAMPIRE COSTUME

- Why I stopped writing my buffyverse fic: 90% crippling depression, 10% knowing that i would have to describe the vampire costume. 

- Is it wrong that I kind of like this mark? Like yeah she’s a terrible person with terrible ideas, but she has style and a dream and the balls to go after it. Good for her. We all had dreams once, liam. 

- Let! Parker! Be! Bi!

- “So he just -- says things and then walks away?” I love the outsider perspective on stuff we’ve all started to take for granted. Same reason Harry works out all right.

- ELIOT THE EYELINER YESSSS and tara giggling about it like “aw lookit the boyfriends”

- “such BOLD use of BUCKLES!” 

- i never caught the line where she introduces nate’s character as “this crass little capitalist” i love it

- oh god it’s the same accent as the fairy godparents job, that’s what it is

- did he just -- drive off and leave tara in a random back alley?

- “This whole ‘I’m sexy because I’m broken’ thing only goes so far “I know, right -- wait, WHAT?”

- why is parker’s dress glorious for the top two thirds and then just goes bananas

- sighhhhhh i wish i could regain the suspense of the first time watching this thinking tara was actually selling them out. 

- “WHY SO MANY BUCKLES?”

1.13 The Second David Job

-The epic power move of being IN Sterling’s new office IN Sterlings new chair DRINKING Sterling’s new liquor and then declaring that he’s gonna rob the exhibit. 

- And the beautiful synchronicity of all of them being there at once and Nate picking them all up (though once again I gotta say: STOP LETTING NATE DRIVE.)

- And the Maggie Shenanigans continue! Just the fact that every step of the way this Maggie - Dr Sinclair date is built to roast Nate as thoroughly as possible. “I had to ask ten times just to get a cup of coffee” -- “Coffee? In an hour?” And then just going OFF about him ...... And that it’s so fully INTENTIONAL cause Maggie’s just playing the shit out of him. 

- The entire series has a very important usually-unspoken side plot called “Sophie Learns To Appreciate Junk Food.” (She’s eating Hardison’s gummy bears while they’re watching the date from the van)

- Oh right, of course we gotta go STRAIGHT from that comedy gold to the sad bit. awwwwwwwwwww Nate gets pets. 

- It’s always so much fun when they introduce a new person to How This Works, and it’s extra fun with Maggie because a) she’s new to the whole thieving thing as well as to the crew itself an b) she WAS so close to Nate and now she gets to see a whole new perspective on him. 

- Omg he’s eating popcorn in the museum. Screw chess, the primary motif holding this season together is POPCORN. 

- Man that season finale walkaway is pretty harsh, especially since it’s not like the one in the First David Job where they HAD to, here they’re ending on a high note and have apparently just DECIDED that they have to split up now? Doesn’t feel good. Guess that means it’s time to start Season Two! :D

2.01 The Beantown Bailout Job

- OH it is so nice to be back in Portland. I mean Boston. Sure. Boston.

- It’s so contrived but I will never not crack up at the fact that the job magically appears in front of him just as he’s about to give up and go get a drink.  

- Conveniently I never remember a lot about this episode besides the beginning and the end which means I get to be surprised by wonderful horrible things like “They all meet up again because they came to Sophie’s show!”

- Can we addres the fact that there is at least one other condo across the hall from Nate’s? If somebody actually lives there, what on earth do they think is going on? Aside from definitely lots of very weird sex.

- lmao what the hell is Sophie supposed to be saying when she attacks the guy in Nate’s place?

- I love how in the Second David Job Nate knows just what to say to get them all working together on the plan even when they don’t want to, and now in this episode they know exactly what to say to get Nate working on it when he doesn’t want to (Hardison’s face when he says the wrong bank name on purpose just to annoy Nate into correcting him? Priceless.)

- “You thought she was dressed like a nun for no reason?” Yes, he did, and I’m pretty sure the entire audience thought so too the first time we saw it. I definitely just assumed that she found Sophie’s costume from the show and wanted to try it on. 

- Two things I’m concerningly into that are NOT Nate this time: Sophie in Nate’s shirt, Hardison dressed as a priest. I’m too bisexual for this. 

- “You know when you’re sober your metaphors get creepier.”

- “Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go call a professional killer who tried to murder me and arrange to meet him in an isolated locatin.”

- Yaaaaaaaas NATE WHUMP and Toppy Sophie, my favorite!

- Wow Nate is like 98% OUT OF THE LOOP on Eliot’s death scene there’s some real WHAT THE FUCK moments from his perspective lol. 

- I can’t believe the bad guy just takes a GUN into a HOSPITAL like there’s no subtler way to kill a man in a cma lmao

- I know everybody’s all abut the Kool-Aid man ending and fr good reason, but I also love love LoVE the CW moment just befre hand with the acoustic song and the undrunk whiskey. 

- K just overall that’s a STELLAR episde it’s gt a surprising number f my favrite things in it, why do I not think about it very often? Gotta remember to mve that one further up on my Top Episodes List fr sure. 

- Yes my o key is in fact malfunctining, if anybdy was wndering.

2.02 The Tapout Job

- First thought is “MEH it’s a monster-of-the-week SPORTS episode I don’t even wanna watch it.”

- Second thought is: But there’s always SOMETHING I love in every episode, I wonder what great thing I’ve forgotten? Also, what embarassing role will Nate play today? LET’S FIND OUT!

- Well to start with I love the rain refections during the client interview, what a cool effect. Way to make use of being IN PORTLAND WOOOO.

- Okay, the episode’s worth it already for the Parker-Hardison “fight” scene and the way Eliot’s so earnest about sticking up for fighting as a sport. 

- OHHHH What did I TELL you about there being an embarassing Nate role! I can’t even tell what he’s trying to DO with this golfer/manager/whatever character..... aside from be an obnoxious MESS, which, you know, he’s a  natural at that! :P 

- On the other hand I’m like. Really into Eliot’s character, with his shy stumbling thing and his having to work for Nate’s character to pay off his debts. That’s a nice setup.

- Oh yeah we’re toooooootally no longer running a con here, we say sincerely as Sophie goes off about Eliot in her “definitely running a con” voice

- I dunno if I really get where Sophie landed on the whole fighting thing, but I DO know that this was a very important chapter in the “Sophie learns to love junk food” subplot :P
