Sam Sly is certainly the talk of the town lately and it’s for good reason. Inspired by 80’s synth pop, jazz, RnB and soul, Sam creates a unique blend that works harmoniously. Not only is she a songwriter but she has a background in producing too. The live experience of Sam is groovy and easy to listen to. Her full band performances really elevate her music to the next level. Not only does the band look like they’re having a blast on stage but their harmonies are on point. It’s truly hard to sit still at a Sam Sly gig. So far we have two amazing releases from Sam. The latest track ‘Palace’ is a song you can bust out your best moves to but if you listen closely, it has a very deep message. When we picture a palace, we are often amazed by the beauty of it without contemplating what darkness could be hiding within. This song is a message about anxiety and how oftentimes we don’t see it in other people. Musically, it’s beautiful. It has a full production with perfectly layered vocals and interesting sounds throughout that keep it feeling fresh until the very end. It’s evident that a lot of thought has been given on how each layer can add to the emotion of this song. With the bar set incredibly high already, Sam will be releasing an EP this year which will be even bigger and better! The EP will dive into the story of Sam Sly, telling her vulnerable truths and letting us dive a little bit deeper into her world. You’ll be able to catch Sam and her band performing at some big events in the future such as Canberra’s Enlighten festival. As Sam is always hard at work on the next big thing, she’ll be kicking lots of goals this year. You’ll definitely want to watch this space because Sam Sly is about to fly.
