like i initially thought that bendy fumbled dandy? given his overall Vibe™ and attachment issues (esp post-diagnosis). BUT THEN I REMEMBERED that one of bendy's biggest worries in relationships is that he'll be left or abandoned after the other finds out abt his illness
and that got me thinking
what if bendy fears that kinda thing because That's Happened Before. what if dandy, in some way or another, ended things because of the blot's curse??
honestly it could go either way. who do y'all think is #The Biggest Fumbler of all Time

1. We Never get a Full Shot of his Chest
honestly, thinking back to this part of the story is what initially started my headcanon turned half-serious theory. why would his chest be bandaged up? looking back, (i originally thought) i couldn't see any sort of injury he had to warrant that
it wasn't until after i had planned to make this post that i realized that the blot attack possibly-probably left open wounds on his body, which would also explain why his limbs are bandaged up too. DOESN'T MEAN SOMETHING AIN'T BEING HIDDEN THOUGH !!!
now, i don't think this is a form of (very unhealthy, mind you) binding- that doesn't make sense anyways. right before this, we get shots of bendy with his top unbuttoned, without the bandages. looking at those panels, they immediately disprove that theory.
if anything, if this silly headcanon-theory is somehow correct, i'd say that chances are he has top surgery scars. okaaay, then what's the point of the bandages? bendy definitely didn't hide them himself. like i mentioned before, the bandages weren't there prior to felix and sheba knocking out him and boris. i also doubt that felix and sheba would intentionally hide his scars for him, for whatever reason or another.
no no, none of these possibilities are meta enough.
if bendy does have scars being hidden, it's because fly and nort don't want us, the viewers, to see them yet.
i do actually have a half-stable basis for that by the way! but you'll have to read further to find out, that's an entirely separate point i'll be making
now, what about those scenes where bendy's shirt is unbuttoned? you might be thinking to yourself "sam, we DO get shots of his uncovered chest, you've brought up the scene where we do multiple times no-"
INCREDIBLY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER !!!!
yes, we do see bendy with his top opened up, but we don't actually see his chest completely uncovered- only ever partially. i double, triple checked those panels, and i'm CONFIDENT that if he had top surgery scars, they wouldn't be possible for us to see with the way his shirt is on.
2. His Insecurity about his Height
now, don't get me wrong, anyone and everyone can be insecure about their height. men, women, cis, or trans, whatever. I'M JUST SAYIN' that, as a trans man myself, height insecurities are suuuper relatable- even if one's height is actually normal and average and everyone else is just stupidly tall (which is what's stated to be bendy's case)
would like to note now that everything kinda devolves after my first point; you will NOT see any explanation that long ever again for the rest of this post
3. He is Literally Me

if bendy is so relatable that i deem him "me for real"

ok, in all seriousness? i freaked out over this post (in a good way though)
based on the fact that nort can't say who, i've come to two conclusions about this all:
this character's transness isn't just a fun fact; it must be relevant to the story as to share now would spoil things, therefooore
i believe that whoever this character is, it's someone more important- someone from the main cast
now, i have no idea if this character is bendy. it could be boris, or cuphead or mugman or even shelly (or the mystery cast member from the holidays post, who totally isn't alice)
what i do know- what i'd be willing to bet my soul on- is that this mystery trans character has gotta be one of them. not only that, but i'd also bet that later on, we'll get a scene of them coming out as trans to someone! (or something similar)
i'd looove for it to be bendy, just to have this random headcanon i cooked up to be right somehow, but i'll also be just as happy if it ends up being someone else. gotta love to see more rep

THE HOMESTUCK PILOT DROPPED TODAY AND NOBODY WAS GONNA TELL ME??????

at the end of the day, i feel like it encompasses all that makes homestuck. well. homestuck. and works as an amazing adaptation despite how compressed it is
it's definitely different? there's a charm to the webcomic that the animation just doesn't have—not to mention all that had to be changed and cut from the original—but this was smth i was already expecting w/ the change in medium and i think plenty of others were too, sooo
the only thing i raised my eyebrow at was dave's characterization. granted, it's been a while, and my memory's not the greatest, but i could've sworn he was a lot moreee. blunt? i saw someone else here use the term stoic—compared to how he's portrayed in the animation
besides that, i really liked it! and i'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested
also, i'm thinking abt finally going back and re-reading the webcomic just so i can properly compare the two—so, if anyone comes across this, make sure to stay tuned in for that
