Assalamu Alaikum! Something has been bothering me. I have heard that women are prefered to pray at home and such, but someone the other day told me that it is forbidden for women to go to the masjid and pray and she was telling me how she heard it from many scholars. Unfortunately I couldn't get from her who they were, but still. She was referring to Eid namaz in particular and basically telling me that it is haraam for women to go pray at the masjid...
Wa alaikum assalam!
I have no idea where that person came up with that from. While it is encouraged for women to pray at home, Rasoolullah (saw) said:
"Do not prevent women from attending the mosque, even though their houses are better for them." [Abu Dawud]
As for Eid, it is reported by Umm`Atiyyah (ra):
"We were ordered to go out with the single and menstruating women to the two`Eids in order to witness the good and the supplications of the Muslims." [Bukhari, Muslim]
I hope that answered your question.
May Allah (swt) shower ease and mercy upon you and your family. Amīn.
