———
It all seemed good to be true you thought. You and Sam were friends for a while. Your group of friends did everything together and you loved them all but Sam had a special spot in your heart. You guys would flirt and cuddle all the time and would even kiss and make out sometimes when intoxicated. It was just normal now and it was frustrating you because in the 4 years you’d been friends, he’s only had 2 girlfriends. But then when the relationship went sour he would always came back to you. Over the years your feelings for Sam grew and it got harder to see him hook up with other girls while drunk, so you started attending less parties just to avoid your feelings.
This was the last party of the summer that all of your friends would be able to attend. You pull on your swim suit and throw on jean shorts and a tank top. You look at yourself in the mirror one last time before grabbing your bag and towel and walking downstairs.
Sam was sitting on the couch talking to your Dad, which was common now. Sam hangs out at your house a lot and has gotten close with your family.
"You ready to go?" You ask, rocking back on your heels.
"Yep." Sam smiles.
"Keep her safe." Your dad says, flipping the channel on the TV.
"I will, sir." Sam says, leading you out to his car.
"You ready to party?" Sam asks pulling up to the party.
"Yeah." You shyly smile.
Sam puts the car in park and looks at you.
"What’s wrong? I know you well enough to know when something is wrong."
"It sounds stupid, but can you please not hook up with a random girl." I mumble.
"Why, do you get jealous?"
"Maybe." You say barely audible.
"You like me." Sam says matter of factly.
"Sam, no I don’t." You snap.
"Well if you didn’t like me you wouldn’t be bothered by me doing this." Sam places his hand high up on your thigh then leans in to kiss your neck.
"Stop." You moan.
"Not until you admit your feelings for me."
He continues sucking on your neck, before finally kissing your lips. You lean over the center console and climb into his lap, straddling him. You start kissing down his neck and you knew it was his weakness.
You slide out of his lap and open the door, quickly getting out. “You little tease.” Sam calls, walking over and wrapping his arm around your shoulder. You look up at him and grin.
"Do you really want to go to this? I’m not feeling it."
"We don’t have to but it’s the crew’s last party. We have to at least make an appearance." You say.
"An hour tops." Sam says.
You guys walk to the backyard, Sam’s arm still around you.
"Aye look who showed up." Calvin yells.
"Hi Cal." You say, giving him a hug.
"Beers in the red cooler."
Sam nods his head and leads you to the cooler.
"One beer each." You say, handing Sam one.
Sam sits down and pulls you into his lap. You guys sat and talked to everyone, enjoying the last time you all would formally be together.
"Alright, we gotta head out. (Y/N) has a curfew she has to follow." Sam says.
He lightly smacks your thigh signaling you to stand up. You get up and say goodbye to everyone. Hugging them, for what could be, the last time. After you finish your goodbyes, you and Sam walk out to his car. He opens the door for you and you thank him.
"Where are we going?" Sam asks.
"I don’t know, you lied about my curfew, so…"
"To your house we go." Sam says, pulling out of the driveway.
You both sit there quietly listening to the soft noise of the radio. Once you arrive at your house, Sam jumps out of his seat and opens the door for you.
"Thanks, Sam." You smile, leaning up against his car, not wanting to go inside yet.
"I forgot to tell you, you look great tonight." Sam says, running his hand through his hair.
"Thanks." You blush.
Sam steps closer to you and places a soft, gentle kiss on your lips.
You pull away smiling.
"Stop doing this to me." You whisper.
"Doing what?" Sam asks.
"Being so cute."
Sam rocks back on his heels and rubs his neck.
"Would you like to you know, be my girlfriend?" Sam says, trailing off towards the end.
"You’re so nervous, it’s adorable. Yes, I will." You say, standing up on your tippy toes, kissing his cheek.
"Good, because if you said no, I would probably die and look dumb."
"No, I like you Sam. I have for a while."
"I was so nervous. I was afraid you would laugh in my face."
"Why would I do that?" You giggle.
"I don’t know. Now let’s go finish what we started in the car."
