oh hello anon, and thank you for your inquiry! i’m kind of embarrassingly unfamiliar with the sam&cas fic terrain, but i can rec a few stories that i enjoyed, from what i have read!

All Hail the Boy King (T, 3312, tagged Cas & Sam) is a short post-s3 au series that diverges from canon in how dean gets out of hell and why castiel ends up getting to know the winchesters. the atmosphere of this is wonderfully bleak and gothic...cas’s perspective especially i really like here, as he reads as very inhuman in his comparison of sam and dean in reality to what he expected of them

Flutter ‘Round His Eyes (T, 1432 words, tagged Cas/Sam) is a oneshot by the same author as All Hail the Boy King. bit softer, featuring sam’s s5 troubled sleep and castiel being strange and fond and protective

God’s Creation (T, 1784 words, tagged Cas/Sam) is a tour of cas’s views on sam s4-s7(ish? canon plot gets hazy for me after s5 eep), with a focus on sam’s mistakes and cas’s increasing appreciation for moral ambiguity. most of the fic i read is pretty dark so my tastes might be skewed, but i think this is a very sweet fic <3
