Samus and Madeline 89 and 99
Well, I hope you donāt mind that I only wrote a ficlet for one of the prompts, because this has been sitting in my drafts long enough and my ideas for the second prompt all came dangerously close to things I wanted to explore in the context of a full-length story.
All of that aside, one order of space lesbian fluff, coming right up!
Samus stretched a little before reaching forthe glass on the bedside table with a yawn. She grabbed the cup with an irongrip and downed all of the water inside in a few gulps, smoothing over the drypatches that had formed in her mouth and throat overnight. All of her years oftraining to become the ultimate chozo warrior and it still only took a few hours without a drink to remind her thatshe was only mortal, only human.
She lowered the cup back onto the cleartabletop and tried to roll back over to go back to sleep for a while, butinstead bumped into something next to her. With her hand already tingling withthe energy needed to manifest her arm cannon, she gasped and pushed herselfupright to get a better look at what invaded her space.
She saw a mess of poofy red hair masking apale human face buried in a pillow. It was just Madeline.
Samus closed her eyes and laid her head back against her pillow, taking in a deep breath and exhaling quietly. How could she keep forgettingthat she shared a bed now? Thankfully, her outburst only caused Madeline tomake a faint āmmmā¦ā before falling still again.
She turned her head towards the sleepingMadeline and watched as the striped comforter over her rose and fell with everybreath. There must have been no more than a few inches between their faces. In the yellowmorning light gently streaming in from the window, Samus could see eachindividual strand of the copper bangs shielding Madelineās face and everytwitch of her closed eyelids.
What could she have been dreaming about?Samus could only hope that it wasnāt half as intense as the nightmares thatusually plagued their nights. By this point, it was a special occasion whenneither of them woke up in a cold sweat at three in the morning.
If Samus didnāt know any better, sheād thinkshe was still asleep right now, too. In her many years as a bounty hunter, sometimes sheād go for months without seeing a humanoid up close besidesherself, let alone at such an⦠intimate distance. She tentatively reached forMadelineās cheek and stroked it with her finger, tracing over every bump and imperfection lightly enough not to wake herbut firm enough to feel the softness of her skin.
Madelineās form suddenly trembled a bit, catching Samus by surprise. Her brown-tinged eyelids fluttered open, and at this distance Samus could see the faint brown disc at the center of Madelineāsolive green eyes, almost rendering her speechless.
āDid you think I wouldnāt notice that?Because I noticed.ā Madeline giggled in a melodic way more reminiscent of a young girl than a 30-something scientist, causing Samusās face to flush a slightred. āYouāre so cute, you know that?ā
Oh no, sheās being too perfect, my training didnāt prepare me for this, Samusthought as her body froze up and the blush at her cheeks intensified. She felta dry patch forming in her mouth again, but she was too tense to reach for theglass again.
āAre⦠are you all right, Samus? Do you need me toleave for a while, or should I stay here?ā Madeline drooped away to the edge ofher own side of the bed.
āIām fine. Please, donāt leave,ā said Samus. She didnāt even notice sheād been staring off into space while she was flustered. Madeline must havethought she was on the verge of another episode.
āSure thing,ā Madeline said with a warm smile as she leanedback in and wrapped her willowy arms around Samusās muscular form, gently pressing her lipsagainst her partnerās before nuzzling into Samusās neck, āmy sun and stars.ā Her whispercarried like a warm breeze over Samusās skin.
Samus eased back into her spot under thecovers and felt a heavy drowsiness creep into her head. There was nogetting around it now ā if she was letting someone that close to her jugular, thiswas definitely something her time growing up on Zebes never prepared her for. Herguard was down lower than it had ever been.
And for once, she didnāt mind.
