Congratulations to our crown jewel Queen, Dr. Samella Lewis. . After CCH Pounder convinced our Creative Director Terrell Tilford to open his first gallery, Tilford Art Group, it was Dr. Lewis’ blessing that was required before doing so. As Tilford puts it, “I sat at the knees of Dr. Lewis, in her living room as she was hand-embellishing an artwork and asked what she thought of me opening an art gallery (this was 2002). She said that there were very few gallerists she would work with, but that she would work again with me. I asked her ‘Why?’”. . “Well, the rest of that conversation has been previously told, but I’ll keep it private for now. But the promises I made to her are the principles I still hold true to this day in working with artists and clients…and it begins with Integrity…” .
