The Vaselines circa 1986/87, courtesy of Sam Knee’s instagram @asceneinbetween. These were taken by Stephen Pastel. The photo of Frances was previously featured in Sam Knee’s brilliant book about the 1980s British indie / C86 scene “A Scene Inbetween”. Finally some clear photos of them actually performing during the 80s!
I think the guitar Eugene is playing belonged to Brian Superstar from The Pastels. Eugene’s own guitar was red but it didn’t have the black edges and was a different shape.
