Penny was out at night, like he normally was when he couldn’t sleep. When the hunger in his stomach was almost unbearable and he couldn’t rest, he needed to find something to eat. Something alive, and warm. The scraps in his refrigerator was not going to cut it tonight, not that they really cut it any night, but normally he could pass the days with it and not worry about his cravings.
So there he was, slinking around in the dark trying to avoid people best he could. Pressing his third cigarette to his lips, sucking so hard on it, in attempt to curve his hunger pains. Though it does little to help, to be fair. He just liked to think it did. It did help distract him however, just a little bit, the smoke filling nositrail in a way that he lost the ability to smell the humans- people, around him. Once he snuffs it out however, closer to woods now, just outside. His heel digs so hard into it, it nearly stops the butt into the dirt.
That was when it hit him, the smell of blood, animal blood. Dead blood. He sniffs in deeply, eyes nearly rolling as his stomach clenches so hard he feels the need to groan. His feet bring him towards that smell, perhaps it was an easy kill, some leftovers that were fresh enough to make a good meal without him having to actually hunt and kill. His mind is clouded by the hunger, he’s not thinking straight.
Of all things he thinks he might see, he was not expecting to see someone eating the dead animal. His mind momeotily clears and he feels, scared. His hand coming up to his mouth, his eyes wide as he stares at them. He is just standing there, unsure of what to do. Trying to not attract their attention, though he is sure he already had.
