Tenor Madness is a Philly-based saxophone-centered, musical ensemble developed in 2014 to celebrate the historic 1956 collaboration between Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. Over the years, this ensemble has performed in a number of venues and has changed faces. But the one constant was the leadership and music direction of saxophonist Sam Reed. He led with a sense of humor, passion and commitment to Philly's Jazz legacy. Some of the players who have participated in Tenor Madness include: Charles Cunningham, Tim Price, Elliott Levin, Carl Grubbs, George Barron, Terry Lawson, Korey Riker, Yesseh Furaha Ali, Michael Pedicin, Larry McKenna, Josh Lee, Dylan Band, Gilberto Cruz, Pete Chavez and Julian Pressley.
