Sams Bar on Dawson Street
Making itself right at home on Dawson Street is Sams Bar occupying the former home of Samsara. Having been given quite the facelift in the interior, walking in you would hardly recognise the place with its large brightly coloured mural, dark walls, velvet and leather seating, and the tall lighted display of alcohol behind the marbled lower bar.
Sams boasts 3 bar areas, loads of comfortable seating, and 2 outside smoking areas for those that want to fill their lungs. Much of the staff has stayed the same from Samsara and the bouncers are very welcoming – unlike the vibe at some nearby bars. The DJ the night I was in was playing some old school classic hip hop which is always welcome. And the bar was packed with a good crowd from 20s-40s, well-dressed and ready to take the night by storm. The vibe was solid.
Sams Bar is definitely making a name for itself with its presence on social media, warm welcome of the Irish rugby team, and well who doesn’t love a few Basset Hounds. And with its location next to 37 it might be offering a bit of competition. Either way I will be back for drinks again in the near future.
