Mystic Falls: Humanity Part II Ch. 2
Hello, my lovely readers. We finally find out what happened with Sam and James, and some of our fav TVD villains: Klaus and Kai are back, too! On with the show…
Chapter 2: You're Back, From Outer Space...Probably Not...
Sam
Death. Dying. These were not new experiences for Samuel Salvatore. He'd kissed death, more than once. Once it had held him close, before allowing him to open his eyes again, to join a whole new world. But this death. This one would not end in his opening his eyes to the loving look of his girlfriend, Artemis Gerard. No. This time there would be no awakening...

The sound of water lapping around his ears made Sam acutely aware of awaking. Then a prick of light. Brows rising, Sam inhaled. His head titled forward and he opened his eyes. No, he did not see Artemis' warm oceanic blue eyes staring back into his icy blues. He did not feel the warmth of her palm grazing his cheek. What he did see was an equally beautiful sight. Pinks, yellows, and fiery red-oranges lit up the sky above the lapping water. Sunrise.
As if recalling Sam's friend, James Mikaelson's, final wish made him appear; James' head surfaced from beneath the water. He spewed a stream of water out like a fountain that many people would enjoy the sight of each morning.
James ran his hands through his brown locks, a slow smile dawning on his face as he saw what Sam saw. Eyes returning to the sunrise, Sam became aware of James drawing nearer. "Think we brought tickets to Peace, my friend?" James inquired.
Sam shrugged. "Don't know." Tearing his eyes away from the natural splendor, he took a long look around. "It looks like home."
"Perhaps this what we would wish for ourselves. Or, perhaps, Elizabeth sent us off to a Prison World." Floating on his back, James grinned at Sam. "I could think of worse company to keep."
Sam found himself smiling. However, he thought that maybe they were still in Mystic Falls. Maybe whatever was in those bullets did not work the way they had been intended. Whatever happened last night, Sam felt, he, and James, needed to find some clues. If they were still in Mystic Falls; they were still in a lot of danger.
Legs moving to speed out of the water, Sam found there was a problem: He had moved less than a foot. Frowning, he, again, tried to use his powers. Nothing. No. Not nothing. Sam moved at the same pace he used to move at when...he was still a mere human boy...
"James?" Sam called to his friend, who continued to do blissful laps. "James!" Sam snapped.
Straightening up, James bobbed in the water. "What is the matter, Sam?" He swam over to bob in front of Sam with his usual smirk in place. Sam would put money on James losing that smirk in the next minute.
"I'm sorry," Sam said, and he meant it.
James grinned back at Sam. "Sorry. For what, pray tell?" poor James picture of confusion made Sam’s guilt compound.
The answer to James’ question came in the form of Sam reaching back, and punching James in the jaw. "Ow. Ow!" If only James could know how much pain Sam had just put himself in. Flexing his fingers, Sam spun in the water, waving his hand. "Damn it! Sorry! I had to know for sure!" He grimaced, still shaking his hand out.
Holding his jaw, James shook his head at Sam. Yes, Sam was right about his early wager; James had lost his cheer. "Bloody hell, Salvatore, what did you do that for?" Hand on his jaw, James looked irate.
It took Sam another moment to reply as he examined the redness of his own knuckles. He was not healing as quickly. So, it was true. Sam was human, again. "James..."
