House Coldwell is relatively new. Founded around 80 years ago, it was their great-grandfather who founded it after the Targaryen ruling in that moment gifted the lands in the Reach to him. It took over a decade, but finally the new lord had his castle named Thorn Tower. For three generations nothing happened until a night, 15 years ago, the five new Coldwells living in there woke up with the sound of horses whinnying and the knights yelling and setting everything on fire. Rose, back then only 15, took Louis (4) and ran away. Samuel (13), tried to fought next to his father but the last command Lord Coldwell gave him was to hide with his two siblings. The three escaped but their parents didn't. The knights charging against the castle and its owners and finished with their lives. They even killed the servants. They thought they killed the three children, too.

It happened in just a couple of hours. Fast enough for the knights to escape because all this happened in the back of the Kingdom and the Tyrells ruling over the Reach. None knew what happened until much later when they saw the ruins of the castle and the corpses.

To protect themselves, the children changed their names to Flowers.

Chiquitita.

Just two moments between father and daughter. Based on this post and Abba's song. Modern AU.

Words: 400, just a blurb. || That first picture killed me.

The first time Samuel Coldwell realised that the song calmed her was the first night they spent together as father and daughter. Mary was tired and asleep still at the hospital's bedroom but Rose despite she was feed, was crying. Rose was fragile and small. She was the smallest thing he ever saw but she was his girl and he still couldn't believe it. When Samuel sang the song as lullaby, it took the newborn only few verses before falling asleep. The one crying, in silence, this time was him, looking at his baby.

As the years passed, few things changed between them. Once, when Samuel came from work and found his daughter on the floor with tears in her eyes. Around her, Barbies and other dolls were surrounded by clothes that Samuel knew most of them were made by Rose herself with pieces of clothes that her grandmother gave her.

"Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong?"

"I suck," the six years old girl said looking at him. Her eyes were red and so was the tip of her nose. Samuel wanted to smile, but didn't, respecting her mood. "I tried to do a new dress but it's awful and ugly and I can't do anything nice."

"That's not true, Rose. I think these dresses are quite pretty, love. But if you don't like it, all you need to do is start again. Don't let the frustration win."

The girl still sobbing opened her arms and her father embraced her against his body, she hid her face in his shoulder. "I love you, Rosie. You're going to be the greatest designer, sweetheart. Just keep trying, baby."

"I love you too, dad. I will."

"Sing with me, Rosie," he said caressing her head and smiling at the girl. "...Chiquitita, you'll be dancing once again and the pain will end..."

"No, dad!"

"Come on, Rosie. Make your ol' man happy," he insisted and started to sing again waiting for his daughter to join him and as Samuel predicted, it happened. Alone in the house the eldest Coldwells sang together until the girl felt better.

"Would you like something to eat?"

"I'd like to. But not if it's yours, you are a horrible cook, dad."

Samuel chuckled "I know, but I prepare the best tea in whole England."

"Try once more, like you did before..." sang a 30 year-old Rose tired and with tears in her eyes, while she deleted the sketches for her next design and started again.

"..sing a new song, Chiquitita..."

The song in her head sounded like the voice of her father, but she didn't realise that.

Only now I'm realising that in this new world, Mary meets Samuel in Pebblebrock and Pebblebrock is the same location of Pemberley...

And my fc for Mary and Samuel are literally mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet... 🤭.

The difference is Pebblebrock is Mary's residence and not his BUT STILL.

Originally to add a subplot I was going to write that Mildred Evert was still alive. But fuck her. She's being eaten by worms.

Instead, I'm bringing him for multiple reasons. One because I wanted to write about the og!Samuel for some time and then because he's Colin Firth and I'm not immune to Colin (who is?)

Coldwell is so different from papa Tyrell! And again as I said from the beginning he's not a bad person... He just made the worst mistake ever.

I found my fc for Rose's youngest brother, Louis (little Lou)

Fc name is Jack Champion and when I was scrolling through Pinterest and I saw him I- 😭, because I always pictured Lou as the one who has more curls among the Coldwell siblings and seeing him is YES. That's Lou.

But when I went to IMDb to read about him 🤭...

I read that the actor is 1,92 mt (6'2" ft, according to Google) and I started to laugh because his nickname doesn't fit at all 😂. Little Lou isn't little at all. But I headcanon that he grew up after his 16th birthday, probably no one was expecting that. Let alone Samuel jr who was very proud of being the tallest (the way Rose could tease him 🤭. Another one who was cursed by their youngest sibling) Louis is now my second tallest character barely behind Aveline and that's fucking a lot. I just know that when he was old enough he just picked his sister up to hug her... And it's adorable 🙈. He'll be little Lou forever, tho. I'm not planning to change his nickname when I used it for almost two years and I love it.

Samuel sr left them but as a reminder their are his kids, he also left his curls and brown eyes in every single one of them (Louis and the second picture of Samuel sr 🙃)
