I'm going to ramble here. Please excuse me for a moment.
Right now in the current JSA run, Sand is completely mischaracterized and it is making me mad. I hate to see my favorite character of all fiction have only one line per issue and for such a line to only be in reference to a relationship that supposedly happened in the past. If I see Sand and Jade interact with each other one more time I'm going to lose my mind. Have they ever interacted in comics before? I really don't think so. I don't remember them ever speaking one-on-one in the past. So why were they in a relationship. And why is that the only thing they can think of doing with Sand? JSA All Stars you will always be famous to me for having a half decent Sand storyline (love some King of Tears/Johnny Sorrow Stuff) despite the fact he was missing from comics for a good amount of time beforehand. That is how you understand a character and reintroduce them. Sand and Powergirl's friendship made that comic. Like that's how you use a connection to reintroduce a character. Anyway. Moving on. The current "year one" arc, is giving me hope that they might bring in Citizen Steel who I love, Atom Smasher who I have mixed opinions about, and maybe just maybe they will fix Sand. I only hope that they take some of the writing they're doing for Wesley and apply it to our poor underutilized detective. They tend to forget that these characters can play a very similar role in a team. I would also like to see Sand fight just once. Because he has not bought a single battle or at least not been emphasized in any battles for the run. One more thing, I feel passionately that the best iteration of Sand since JSA All Stars in 2010 has been his appearance in Bug! Adventures of Forager.
Wow! I really kept going. I don't expect anybody to read all of this. I just had to get it off my chest.
