Who inherits Scrooge’s fortune is touched upon in lot of stories but in this story the question of who will take care of Grandma’s farm once she’s too old is raised. Grandma wants them both to at least try to take care of the farm. Gladstone only wants to show he can beat Donald and is planning to sell the farm as soon as Grandma has left for the old folks’ home. Donald tries his best but isn’t too good at being a farmer.

In the end Grandma decides she can’t retire yet, and that it’s best that she waits until Huey, Dewey and Louie are old enough to inherit the farm.
