April 11th, 2018 You’re my favorite!

Make ......your favorite! Is a common saying at my house.  My husband tells his staff to "make work your favorite" on a regular.... a reference to Elf, if you weren't aware. Then I say "6 inch ribbon curls!..." ha!  I don't know many movie quotes but I LOVE that one! So I was thinking about all my favorite new arrivals and I kept hearing him say it - laughing to myself, and now I'm laughing with all of you.  I've had a challenging week with growth and expansion. Sometimes growing pains hurt, whether its physical, emotional, financial.  It's at those moments I find that humor is necessary and the smallest wins must be celebrated or illuminated. Let silliness prevail and get things onto a lighter note, as this life is hopefully long and fulfilling, there will be plenty of growth spurts. We're getting through each day the best we can right? I believe everything is here to support your highest good, whether or not that's apparent today, and made it my mission to find that good this week.Need a song for that? Stronger by Kanye says it well. I was singing this at the top of my lungs on my buying trip to LA Monday, and by the time I arrived I was ready to take on the world! Good Morning Beautiful! The maxi dresses arriving each week have me all      ga ga over both how pretty and comfortable I feel when wearing them, even with my ever changing shape.  It's interesting to me, because I have significantly changed shape before.  I gained weight and increased significant sizes in college.  I lost weight and cultivated a physique from yoga and diet that was stronger and leaner, in my thirties, than ever in my life.  I'm someone who used to be asked regularly if I was pregnant, when I was not.  I am someone who people regularly comment on my weight or breast size, oh have you lost weight, even when I have not, sometimes they argue with me, which is my favorite, oh yes you have, oh yes you have, okay can we drop it now?!  Is what I'd like to yell. Geesh. 

 And now, people are saying, huh, I thought maybe you were pregnant, because your body seems to be changing.  I don't know how common or uncommon it is to discuss your shape and weight with friends and strangers alike on a regular basis, but its always something I've given attention (sometimes shame, sometimes gratitude) to for myself and received attention around from others - NOT my favorite. 

 This is the first time, it's magnificent.  I don't attach any judgement to my changing shape as my child grows, I am solely grateful that my child is growing, that my body is capable of supporting and protecting life within, and I get to share that with others when they ask about my body, we get to talk immediately about my pregnancy instead of my weight.There are always certain items of clothing that bring more or less attention to the body in ways that are more or less flattering/comfortable to the person wearing them.  This maxi dress, for example, is a new favorite of mine, because I love how it feels and looks, I like that there is room for my growing body, and I feel pretty while wearing it, I feel it "fits" me and don't feel like I'm trying to get comfortable. I also don't feel I'm hiding. I've seen several women try it on and feel similar, with all different body shapes.  It's a winner!  We have several other great options in store as well.  Spring is my favorite time of year for dresses, and this year is no disappointment.  Pop in and see our new pieces, arriving every week, and allow us to help you #articulateyourstyle    xoxo, Cecelia

The sol angeles graphic tees are my favorites.  This one in particular, put hearts in my eyes the moment I saw it.  I've never been to Hawaii, although I'm hoping to go this Spring, and my imagining the beautiful spirit of the Islands and the people, is one of my favorite day dreams.   I follow folks as they photograph the most beautiful landscapes on instagram, and my sister says the sweet rain is like sugar dropping from the heavens... So ya, you had me at aloha!  You know I'm all about putting it out into the universe, what I'd like to experience, so I'll be wearing it on my shirt.  You may want to join me!Here's to achieving all the adventures our hearts crave. xoxo, Cecelia

December 13th, 2017 Riding into this holiday season like... TA-DA!  I love the idea of riding my bicycle to a holiday gathering with a basket overflowing with holiday greenery, bubbles, sweet treats and packages.  While I'd also really LOVE a horse drawn sleigh, this Southern California version of holiday transportation is pretty dreamy!   Where are you headed?  I'm here for the holidays for the first time.  I'll be missing the family and flurries of the midwest, but I'm excited to stay home, and cozy up by the sea with family and friends.  Here's to traditions: new and old! xoxo, Cecelia #outfitoftheweek This sweater is the softest and sweetest of them all with a touch of cashmere to feel that little bit of luxury that makes it your go-to each morning.

December 6th, 2017 Oooooohhh how I LOVE a holiday party! In San Diego there is almost always a casual component to events.  This is challenging for those of us who love to get a little fancy. THIS my dear, is our time of year!  Even a casual holiday gathering has room for sequins, sparkle, satin & heels.  While I fully believe that you should dress how you want whenever you want, I know many of you smooth down your fancy feathers before dressing for an evening because we've discussed it on repeat. We feel you, not wanting to always be dressed noticeably different than the group...It's so hard to write, but I do understand the desire to chill, and yes, flip flops are more comfortable than heels, but there are other feelings, beyond comfort, that need to be expressed.Heads up ladies, I encourage you to wear your most fancy, your most fabulous, your most bold, your most ....... this holiday season in celebration of you and all that makes you sparkle!  xoxo, Cecelia

October 25th, 2017 Okay, I am barely able to sit and focus in this heat, so I am going to share some tips that came up in a conversation with Trevor Blair who is in Executive Recruitment before our segment on KUSI yesterday.  Three tips for dressing for success. 1.  Fit of clothing is essential.  Purchasing clothing that fits your body type sets you up for success.  Tailoring brings it home, customized to your beautiful body. You will enjoy wearing these pieces because they are WAY more comfortable.  Yes, this takes an extra step and that step is worth it, experience it as a further investment into you and your enjoyment of something you use on a daily basis! 2. Fabrics.   Get to know them.  Ask questions.  My mother was a seamstress so I learned a lot about fabrics without trying, had that not been the case, I'd be lost.  You have fabrics that you enjoy more than others, some wear better, some clean more easily, and some seem luxurious, while others... not so much.  We all have unique preferences, and as the fabric is like a second skin, lets get clear on what we prefer and surround ourselves with more of that! 3.  FUN!  Be playful where you can, with color, with accessories on your body and the decor in your environment. If getting dressed isn't fun,  GET IN HERE!  We can change that. There are pieces that will be a joy to wear.  As Skyler said recently, let me prove it to you!  The more you learn about what they are, and work with stylists like myself who really care about your experience, the more the scale will tilt in your favor... in your own closet.  Out with what doesn't work by slowly replacing it with favorites, orquickly if you are snappy like that:)Vocabulary is a great resource because we have already narrowed down a huge industry of apparel into favorites.  We have a great version of a blazer, and two lovely takes on the LBD.  We also work with stylists that will shop for you outside of our boutique: assist you with your closets, consignment of former favorites, and even provide leadership support.  Busy as a Bee will take pieces to the tailor FOR you. All of this is incredibly valuable, affordable and FUN. #WinWIN...win! So as Trevor and I are discussing how to inspire folks to look their best and dress for success, as he said, I flipped the conversation.  There is another element of fun involved which is what you do.  If you have the most glorious suit, perfectly tailored in your favorite fabric with an office that is gorgeous and all you could ever want in an environment, and you are uncomfortable...  It might not be the place for you at this time.  If the suit doesn't "suit" you, change it!  Maybe yoga clothes were it for some time, and now you crave a new uniform? We are ever-changing beings and there may come a time when either change is actually what you crave, OR a new job, a new industry all together, a new role, a new location, a new challenge.  

Sit with that desire, and lets see where it takes you, because you beauty, are capable of anything and EVERYTHING is possible.
