While she could have a meal, she doesn’t have the energy to actually go and pick it up,a dn doesn’t have the energy to try embarrassing herself in an attempt to eat somtehing like a regular human being. So, Chuck just lays out on the couch, and locks quiet eyes onto Sal as he talks to her about reaching out and communication. It reminds her of something like progress, and so, she manages a tiny smile.
