“Just an experiment”
@eyeish
in the wake of darkness stood a lone creature. comfortable within the shroud of nightfall, he chose to remain hidden. or, well; as hidden as a ghost could be. being touched by the entity rendered him supernatural. never mind his overall appearance, but the eyes. . . his eyes alone told a thousand stories. two orbs which shimmered with a heat so intense it burned white. sometimes, only sometimes, did they have a frosty look to them. a brilliant powder blue that illuminated against the worn sky above.
other times, they took the form of the harvest moon. a bright orange that scoured its frightened prey. lurking, watching ( always, always watching ). but not tonight. there were no whispers of hunger in his ears. there was no foul being changing his appearance at will.
it was just the wraith, and the wraith alone.
@byordeal
crows had always been his allies. every roost and flutter of wings alerted him of survivors who were passing by. they were his eyes and ears; his guidance when the end was drawing near. much to the entity’s displeasure, wraith had strengthened the bond between him and the fauna in the surrounding area. often times they would stay perched on his shoulder as he stayed unwavering. they picked and prodded at the twigs on his head, occasionally nuzzling into the crook of his neck.
even as he committed such heinous acts, there was still a side to him that fell hidden to the shadows. his fellow huntsman would do nothing but mock him if they ever knew. ( not all of them, but a good majority ). they were not there to be kind. they had a job to do. and that was all they ever did.
he thinks on this whilst sitting in absolute silence. the wraith looked statuesque; a disturbing figure upon the bench, finches and sparrows making a home on his shoulders.
@anthizei
to witness the changing season was nothing short of a miracle. the atmosphere had been drearily consistent from where he came from. cold, dark, and wet. though autumn had been no different to such falsified evenings, there was something absolutely wonderful about it all the same. it had been much too long since he had seen the leaves change color. brilliant reds and yellows rustling about; woodland animals aside from crows and rats scurrying along their way.
for wraith, it was a treat. not one that he believed he deserved... but a treat nonetheless. slowly the creature kneels down to the ground, slender frame reaching to gently pick up a perfect little red leaf.
maybe all that suffering had been worth it after all.
@sanityfelled
was that? no...
maybe?
just what was this place? how could anything, anywhere, anybody... be more powerful than that thing-- strong enough to be able to drag everyone from the realm into their own? it was beyond the wraith’s comprehension. for what seemed like an eternity, this was all he ever knew. the realm was inescapable...
until today.
a hand reaches out from the cover of the alleyway’s darkness. it’s a gentle touch; a kind grip upon the shoulder to stop them in their tracks. the white mask, the blue hair. he knows who this is. closer, slowly. . . slowly. . . his lumbering form peers out. though he cannot speak, the look on his face beckons one question alone.
[ 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐞? ]
a curious tilt of the head followed suit.
@petaltrail
he didn’t like this. the feeling of being absolutely exposed was making him uncomfortable. no wailing bell, no axe, no cover to hide behind. there was nothing to his name now. nothing... but a little wooden stick. a... a snake? oh this was embarrassing. he should be so lucky, though, to escape the entity’s iron grasp.
even if it had cost him everything the demon had gifted unto him.
as if he were the only being in the world the wraith stood in the middle of the sidewalk, turning the child’s toy over in his hands several times with a gurgle of confusion.
this was fine.
