Tonight was Pet Night at the Santa set and it went pretty well. We saw 36 dogs but no other animals. Everything from little lap dogs to a pair of Mastiffs. The dogs were well behaved though a few had a ton of energy. Lots of barking but no accidents nor biting. We ended up making a thousand dollars in the hour and a half.

A few thoughts on working on a Santa Set at the mall:

1. Fitting 20 people where half the group are grown adults into a small space and getting a great photo takes more effort than I realized.

2. Older siblings who play along (especially enthusiastically when they’re old enough to know the truth about Santa) are some of the best people I’ve seen and make me smile.

3. Kids are one hundred times cuter when they’re dressed up in festive looks (especially a full velvet Santa suit).

4. Little kid trains that go around in a circle are creations of the devil because they are so loud and there is nowhere for the sound to go when in an enclosed mall.

5. Trying to get people to not take photos with their phones because that’s company policy, regardless of whether or not they buy a photo package is a sure fire way to run out of fucks to give quickly.

6. People have forgotten how to read analog clogs.

7. If I had a nickle for every time I heard, ‘It’s too soon for Santa to be here’ or something similar, I’d be a multi-millionaire and I don’t ever want to hear that phrase again.

8. I will not wear all black for an entire year after I’m done working on this set.

Andrea: Is there any gum?

Me: No, I think Zo took the last one on Saturday.

Andrea: *grabs a Halls Vitamin C losenge* Oh well, I'll take this.

Me: Why?

Andrea: Cause I need something to suck on.

Me: I hate you. Because I cannot say what I want to say aloud.
