❝ ‘aint nobody got time for that. ❞

“Your brothers are.......... something.”
❝So where are we going? It better not be anyplace dumb.❞
“Will you stop asking, Mer?” It was like this girl didn’t understand the point of a surprise, Crivvens.
He sighed and kicked Torrey into a gallop, knowing that Angus would follow. After a few more miles, he urged them into a stop in front of a jagged formation of rocks that seemed to never stop reaching out towards the heavens.
“It’s called Dunkeld. Because I actually listen to mum’s lessons,” he teased, coming down from his horse. He took a few steps forward, then looked at Merida expectedly.
“Well, are you coming? I thought you wanted me to teach you how to climb.”
❝And this will all be mine?❞
“I think so,” he boy said, standing on his tippy-toes to look out the window that showed the wide, never-ending hillside. He still had a few memories of his old life of watching winding, crowded streets in-between short stacked houses, not an inch of grass to be seen. But that place felt like a distant, lonely nightmare to the eight-year-old. This land of hillsides and rivers and fields was his home, as if it was always meant to be.
He winced as his little sister adjusted her position on his back to try and get a better look, kicking him in the face in the process. In retribution, he jumped up, making her squeal as she scrambled to keep a hold of him. At the sound of her laughter, light and airy as small bells, he found it hard to stay mad at her.
“A Queen is suppos’t take care of all of that too, you know. Not just...have it.” At her snippy response of ‘What, the grass?’, he let go of her legs and laughed as she squealed in panic, letting her fall for half a second right before he caught her again, like he always did.

❝ So you’re saying WISPS lead you here? ❞
He has a little INKLING to what those beings are from short stories of LIGHTS LEADING THOSE TO A SIGNIFICANT POINT IN LIFE but never from the lips of a foreign traveler. Perhaps they are far too tired to think clearly and coherently. It sounds as ridiculous as him searching for trolls along the wet rocks of sea stacks.
