some books i read recently → you deserve each other by sarah hogle
When I'm in the bathroom, he orders me a Dr Pepper, which he knows is my favorite. Before we leave, I wipe all the crumbs and used napkins from the table onto our plates and stack them, which I know he appreciates because he tries to be helpful to the busboys. When we get back out to the car, we plot how to ruin each other's lives.

#bookedit#book edit#book moodboard#barbbooks#you deserve each other#sarah hogle#you deserve each other sarah hogle#naomi westfield#nicholas rose#geraldine viswanathan#adam dimarco#i had started this book a while ago (even before the movie announcement came out) and for whatever reason i dnf#and at the time i already thought geraldine would be perfect as naomi#then the movie news came and i saw that naomi and nicholas would be played by meghann fahy and penn badgley and i got sooooo excited#they’re amazing actors and i was actually hoping penn would get a romcom lead role soon#so this motivated me to pick up this book again (which i now adore)#and well i was picturing meghann and penn as naomi and nicholas but as the bts pictures of the movie kept coming#i realized they changed a lot of things even some that i could argue that they’re kinda essential to the story#but i can’t really judge this before watching the movie (and i’m actually a strong advocate that movies Should change the og material#while being faithful to the core of the story so i really won’t mind the changes if the core is still there)#but anyway i involuntarily ended up thinking of geraldine as naomi again and eventually my mind drifted to adam as nicholas#now it’s like there are two versions of the same story for me#one that’s going to become a movie with penn and meghann and it’s set in nye (and i looove nyc romcoms)#and another with geraldine and adam which plays out in the same way as the book#and i really can’t wait to see penn and meghann i think they’ll be amazing together#tbh i don’t even doubt the movie can become very good despite all the changes#and if it really ends up being good i’ll have two good versions of the same story to enjoy hehehe#but if they ever want to make a more faithful adaptation just as netflix did by giving a short series to one day#pls consider my amazing face claim choices because geraldine and adam together would be perfect alright
