30 day drabble challenge

Day 12: Prepared

This particular drabble is straying from the Shamballa canon and going along with Ed's and Sarah's relationship. So if you don't care much for that, scroll on.

Extra short. Only 286 words.

Oh god, what had I gotten us into?

Equivalent exchange really is a load of bullshit. Nine months of pain is the consequence for nine minutes of pleasure. I'd like to say I lasted longer than a measly nine minutes, but that’s besides the point.

I had gotten the both of us into a whole mess of trouble.

Alfons was pissed. He knew it would be difficult to support a kid. They were able to support the three of them with their current salaries, but if a fourth person came into the picture…

But not just a fourth person. A baby.

Those tended to be a bit more expensive than most people.

But it was far too late. What was done was done, and now I had to face the consequences. I had to take the responsibilities. This was going to be my kid. My child. My own flesh and blood.

I was going to support it. I didn’t care if that meant having two jobs, three jobs, or ten jobs.

I was going to take care of that thing. And I was going to love the hell out of it.

And it was going to be a rough journey ahead. Sarah would need taking care of. She’d have cravings and mood swings… most likely taken out on me… but I was going to handle everything that she threw at me to the best of my ability.

After all, it was my fault she had even gotten to that condition. 

And I had to get rid of my drinking habits. That would be a slow, painful process. But I had to do it.

I was going to be a father.

And I had to prepare myself.
