Visited Chris Leslie's 'Disappearing Glasgow' exhibition at The Lighthouse! Glad I made it, cool work, very varied use of media from film to stills, and even objects on display e.g. Postcards found at the sites.

Content Awareness Tool.

Using tips from the puppet warp tutorial i used ‘selection’ ‘fill’ and ‘content awareness’ to save the selection to a new layer then move the man (Mark) from the background. Then followed the guidelines in the research to alter the size of the man using ‘content awareness’ and altering the percentages. To correct the distortion caused i reduced the ‘amount’ to 0. Some cloning and healing was done to correct some small areas where the full sized man had left irregularities when removed from the background.

Created a brush!
This one was much more straight forward! Created sample imagery that it could be used within. Also shown is a screen shot of the selection process and saving of the brush. The selection could be smoother, but that is for another day!

Tried the displacement tools!
Image 1: Initial attempt but felt it needed a better blend
Image 2: Screen shot of my blending methods inc. using the ‘overlay’ blend mode, and adding a bit of bevel and emboss to give the feel of the text baing raised, like the ‘dog’ like shape in the rock.
Image 3: Final attempt with blending.
Image 4: Decided a shadow was required to really enhance the embossed feel. This image is the screen shot of this process.

Followed advice from this video, and then just played:

Puppet warp including using content aware to allow extraction of dog in background image so that puppet warping is only image of dog seen.

Found this tool quite hard to use, but think i will have fun playing around with it in future for manipulation of imagery when required.
Initially I had problems with the background dog remaining in the image and the puppet warp being a translucent image over the top as a mask. Following wider research, ended up referring to two you tube videos to assist me.

These images were created earlier in the year in our image editing class. Thought I had shared them, but couldn’t find them, so just in case, here they are!
Image 1: An example of trying duotoning, where the image is converted to grayscale and then duotoning applied as shown.
Image 2:A further example of trying duotoning, this time creating a greener tint, that gives an eery, almost depressive mood.
Image 3: This image was created when we were learning to swap backgrounds......here the turquoise plain wall was removed and a city-scape shot in Edinburgh put in its place.
Image 4: Face swap practice..........here a dogs face was cut out from another image and added to this image.
Image 5: This is an example of colour grading (the early stages) I have since used this process multiple times, including for my Brand brief, and Fashion Editiorial briefs.
