STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES
From 1958, a newspaper article about the Broadway play, 'The World of Suzie Wong,' starring France Nuyen in the title role; William Shatner as Robert Lomax, and Sarah Marshall as Kay Fletcher.
Of course years later, the actors would all appear in Star Trek. William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk of course. France Nuyen gave a fantastic performance in her season three guest episode, 'Elaan;' and Sarah Marshall guest starred in season two's quest episode, 'The Deadly Years,' as Janet Wallace.
Years (heck, decades) later, William Shatner told this story about himself at a convention.
The play had been open a couple of weeks, and Shatner was still struggling to maintain an American accent. His shoes need to be repaired, so he dropped them off at a cobblers.
He came back to pick them up, and the cobbler mentioned how long Shatner had been in America.
Shatner started ranting about trying to lose his Canadian accent, when the cobbler turned the shoes over. There, on the heel, they were marked "Made in Canada."
Shatner said both he and the cobbler had a good laugh at his expense.
